ITT: games only you played
>>4048723
No I played that too, anon. Nobody to use my Lucifer and Baal and whatever the two other Gaia masters were on in the link arena.
Also Kishe is a dick.
>>4048748
wasnt this game great
i remember as a kid i went with my dad to go rent pokemon from the local video store and this was inside the box instead and i played the shit out of it and loved it
Qix Adventure
Contains some of the best Engrish you'll find in a Gameboy game.
>>4048723
I like how it says "RPG" on the cover, just to make sure the buyer knows what they're in for.
>>4049038
There was a time, I think from the very late 90s until the early 2000s, where that exact same logo with the shield was used on RPG covers or official websites to mark games as RPGs. I don't know if this was an Atlus only thing, but it definitely was a thing for a bit. I remember the GBA Tactics Ogre game having the same logo, for example.
>>4048723
I have this game, but I've never gotten around to playing it. I just can't deal with such small resolutions any more even though I have a Super Gameboy and a Gamecube GB player.
>published by atlus
>spinoff of one of the biggest JRPG franchises of all time
NOBODY PLAYED THIS HIDDEN GEM GUYS!
I got one.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the foot clan
I played this game so much as a kid I had all the secret spots memorised and would hit enemies as soon as they spawned.
Konami made some damn fine Ninja Turtles games.
>>4048723
I spent more time grinding to beat the final boss than I did playing the rest of the game. I didn't even know about the Force the first dozen times I fought him.
>>4048723
My first SMT game. I still remember that annoying town music.
I bought this new off the shelf the week it was released. Never met anyone ever in person who even heard of it.
Online a few retro gamers dabble in it but most just go for older Shining force or FE series.
>>4049451
>grow up in po-dunk-diddly nowhere ohio
>maybe 3-4 chain stores that carry games
>all carry the exact same popular shit
>drive out of state for the nearest ELECTRONICS BOUTIQUE
>find OPs game tucked away at the very bottom
>back home not a single person has even heard of SHIN-MEG-ER-ME-TEN-SEE *spit*
Its all relative man
>>4049667
Nobody in Shitbucket, Africa has heard of FF6, guess it's a hidden gem now.
>>4049687
if you live there :o)
>>4049687
>Shitbucket
This town name reminds me of EarthBound - the true classic of hidden gems.
I bet nobody on this board has played this shit, it's English name is Battle Pinball by the way. Found it while scouring my fullset one day and it was actually pretty decent.
Best version.
>>4049713
Ofcourse I have. I love pinball games. It's not the best, physics feel weird, but I enjoyed it.
>>4048723
Holy shit, I never knew we got Last Bible in NA.
>>4049894
I had the SNES version. That game was tough as balls. Never did beat it.
>>4048723
>>4049038
>>4050568
Played the fucking living shit out of this, lived in Brazil at the time and the full disc came with a magazine. Great PC racing game.
>>4050601
Sopa de macaco.
>>4049894
I have the Game Gear version, bro
>>4048723
A lot of people had this game actually. My brother and I got it as kids.
Felt like cool edgy pokemon at the time.
Anyone play this one? I really liked it as a kid. Never seen it talked about here.
>>4052178
>Felt like cool edgy pokemon at the time.
Pretty much what SMT is.
>>4048723
This was my first MegaTen style game. I remember using Nintendo Power's (minimal) coverage to get past the first few hours. Probably terrible but I remember it being pretty great.
>>4048723
Pro tip:It's shit.
One of the most overlooked games I know. This thing is an AMAZING platformer.
got frustrated with it as a kid and never beat it
still have the disc somewhere but can't get it to work on the new machine
Kinda repetitive but still great.
>>4052178
I love Puggsy. Imo, it's one of the best puzzle-platformers ever made.
>>4053580
this one is really fun with two players. Still play it with my friend from time to time.
>>4053183
Wish Zero Kamikaze did'nt have the stupid dive tests
>>4053580
Good to hear someone else thinks it's good. I also remember really liking Bubsy 2 so wasn't sure if I was just dumb.
Gonna boot it up on my Mega Everdrive today.
Haven't heard of Wiz N Liz, will try that too!
>>4053795
Never played that one. How it compares to Aero the Acro-bat 2?
>>4054024
It's better in every way EXCEPT for the dive tests
>>4053814
Wiz n Liz is one of those games that was graced with a Matt Furniss soundtrack.

Maybe some proof of concept shit that barely classified as a game. Any real game I worked on was tested by many people. Even i it never saw the light of day.
>b-b-but muh meme
+1 summer for you
>>4056389
>ACKTUALLY!!!
lol
>>4056389
the 'tism is strong with this one
>>4056389
>provides no proof
>my dad works at Nintendo

You may very well have worked on some games but how the hell are we supposed to have a conversation about a beta literally only one person played?
How about posting games you rarely saw anyone else own or talk about as a kid you faggots.
>>4057181
We aren't supposed to have a conversion about that. We're supposed to post the same "obscure" games always posted every time this cancer thread is posted.
>>4057832
THEN WHY ARE WE HERE?
>>4048723
I remember playing this a lot, but I don't remember a damn thing about it.
what is this, 4chan?
The Abyss: Incident At Europa
>>4049656
My best friend and I both had it but we didn't know anyone else with Sega CD back then.
He and I kept telling each other all the various little 'secrets' and shit we found in the game on our own, like training a shinobi, how to defeat Karmak, finding Sharktan items etc. He and I must've beaten it at least a dozen times each.
We also were the only ones we knew who even heard of, never mind actually played, Lunar, Lunar II and Popful Mail back then. In fact, he was such a huge Popful Mail fan back in the day, when he first played Earthbound (another game popular now that we only knew each other to have actually ever owned), he named all the characters after Popful Mail characters. The dog got named MH for Muttonhead and his fav thing PSI was Popful.
I've yet to encounter anyone but me who owned TG16/PC-Engine, so literally all those games are games only I played.
Keitai Denjū Telefang, or as we came to know it in the West, Pokemon Diamond and Jade.
These games confused the fuck out of me when I was younger and I never could get very far through those shitty translations.
ive played both robopons and robopon 1 is actually the most unplayable obnoxious piece of shit i have ever graced upon
robopon 2 10/10 though
>>4060583
i always thought telefang was a cool dated concept. i guess the bootlegger really wanted english speakers to play the game
>>4060573
Come on now, Ristar stopped being obscure when he hitched a ride on Sonic Mega Collection.
>>4048723
Played that quite a bit. Never beat it though. I remember reading about it a lot in Nintendo Power, and I was super into my GBC at the time and really wanted to play a retro-style JRPG because I had never really cared for them. I should really give it a go again now that I'm older and better at JRPGS.
>>4049620
Shit, I thought the town music was kinda cozy
>>4049451
Atlus was still pretty small back then. Nowhere near the presence of other publishers.
Best godziller game out there. DAMM niggers fight me
This game. Anyone else play this? It literally made no sense to me. Couldn't find any guides either.
>>4049667
What game is this? Looks wicked.
>>4061337
Metal slug 3. Most ports have load times or slowdown
>>4048723
I've never heard anyone else talk about this game, ever, other than my family members who used to play this in LAN parties. I used to play a kobold and just kind of try to shank ogres in the legs and stuff, while a single hit from them would basically be Teeball for Ogres. It was fun as hell.
>>4049687
What a baby
I've never seen it discussed, anyway
Castle Quest for Gameboy. Port of an ancient Famicom game and was only released in Europe.
Imagine chess, but with Advance Wars-esque combat scenes where your pieces fight by playing War with a standard deck of 52 cards (though certain pieces can attack outside of the combat scenes using magic). You can also upgrade your pieces, and they all have their own unique battle cries.
The original has a fan translation, but I prefer the port. A few of the classes were buffed so the game isn't quite as unforgiving, and an extraneous system whereby lower classes have fewer cards to choose from was removed, making for a fairer game.
Already posted but..
i know you played it but this is the shit
It wasn't very good.
>>4048748
Fuck you, Kishe is my nigga, you nigger.
360 no scopes his Un alpha, et omega to all the gaiafag motherfuckers all day erry day.
>>4061909
I never beat the last stage. Solid game though.
>>4052178
That game has a particularly creepy anti-piracy screen.
>>4049713
I've played the shit out of this game. Best pinball on Super Famicom/SNES. Can go through all 4 tables pretty quickly on a good run. This and Jaki Crush should have made it over here and not just the conventional/realistic pinball games the SNES got in the states.
>>4049832
What has the best physics in your opinion?
Here's another PC game I played that doesn't get talked about very often, even on point n click threads. Inadvertently my first foray into the Cthulhu Mythos when I was about 8
>>4062332
Or what about Ar'kritz: the Intruder? Jesus. Even found the cover of the magazine which came with the cd. Obscure-ass game
>>4062338
(samefag) I wish I could dig up those cds to see more of those games I REALLY wanted the full version of as a kid, there's a bunch of stuff in my memories but no names to go along with them
Only had a demo for this, but whatevs.
I don't think anyone else on the face of the earth bought a copy of this game.
>>4062349
Copypasted everything but forgot picture. Fucking sleep deprivation
I had this one (and a bunch more of rarities) on my Super Famicom when I was a child.
>>4061781
I talked about it on /vr/ . Fuck your family. I'm a real person.
>>4062438
I had it. It was pretty decent, and one of the few games my dad would play. Not retro.
>>4062901
fantastic game. It's in my SNES right now
>>4048723
Tfw played this game to the point of hitting max level with El, Kishe and Uranus
Also Kishe was my nigger, he literally threatened monsters into joining you or else
Once I figured out the trick with monster fusion it got really fun
>>4049713
Jokes on you I've played all SFC Compati Hero games.
>>4049981
Had this on the famicom, pretty cool game
>>4060583
I tried playing this games with one of my friends many times when we were young, we kept dying really fast
>>4063972
All, like, three people I knew who had Saturns had this game, for whatever reason.
>>4063972
I just read the book, I that is was great.
I've heard the movie is only very loosely based on the book, and mediocre.
I need to watch it still.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00QigNZUNkg
Its a pile of shit
>>4048723
>>4053121
I like the underground forest
>>4061781
controls were bad
>>4049687
Nobody outside of Micro Dick, Mom's Basement, USA has ever heard of you, but that doesn't make you a hidden gem anon.
>>4062438
had this one. Hated his dumbass face on the box
>>4063268
...what's "the trick"?
>>4064749
That was my point, retard.
>>4064685
I was the first person to throw the penguin off the cliff, fun fact. I posted it on gamefaqs and then everybody started doing it, Miyamoto even called me personally to congratulate me on being the first.
>>4066172
stfu larper
>>4049667
It's 2017, you don't need to rely on store shelves to learn about new games
Thinking that no-one has gone back and played an SMT game is absurd
>>4062441
man tim curry used to be in a lot of shit
I got this for my birthday in third grade, and i didn't beat this thing until sixth grade, To this day i still don't know how i managed to without any sort of guide or hints
>>4049013
That's a Descartes quote translated into English. Woah this game is deep.
Shit was my favorite for several years, found the floppy for $5 at some dimestore and played it endlessly on my first PC.
>>4061235
>not Maximum Impact
>>4068146
Damn, that's classic.
>>4068146
>found the floppy for $5
paying for shareware desu
But yeah, that was on every BBS files section back in the day.
>>4050524
Buzz Bombers and Astro Smash were my jam
>>4048723
If you played this, my brother.
>>4070665
How can a weapon of destruction be a symbol of hope?
>>4072523
Stop.
>>4048723
What an atrocious cover.
>>4072759
That was back when Atlus was still trying to pass off SMT as "Revelations" in the US. The first Persona was "Revelations Persona", and it had that stupid "RPG" label on the cover, too.
Recently finished playing this game, it was entertaining but also somewhat tedious. I owed it to myself because in my childhood I did not have the knowledge or the intelligence to play it seriously. This image of the team celebrating and the captain with the world trophy excited me a lot. For many it is a crap even I believed it and was about to erase it but I remembered the hours and hours I spent in my sega genesis 3 playing it and now that I finish it I feel that the long hours that I invested as a child or were in vain ...
>>4049656
Awesome game, one of the few reasons to own a Sega CD.
>>4065968
It's not really a trick per session, but I found out those lich monsters (the skull you run into near the beginning of the game) can't be recruited, and they're low level that can only be obtained by fusing two monsters of the same family together iirc. However if you get one and fuse it with another monster, the result will be the next highest level monster in that particular lineage. So getting liches and fusing them to monsters will be able to get you strong groups of monsters if you powerlevel. Helps if you feel like you can't progress because not getting the right monsters recruited
>>4054025
I just played Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel and it's definitely NOT better than Aero the Acro-bat 2.
>>4049557
First few years I had a Gameboy, all I had was Tetris, Super Mario Land, and Fall of the Foot Clan. This game got many, many hours when I was a kid.
>>4074918
I've been on the wrong side of the internet for too long.
>>4060796
What was with monster battlin' games from the 90s recruiting hentai artists to do their manga.
>>4049013
>i think therefore i am
>engrish
Either you're joking or you dropped out of school.
>>4048723
Still one of my favourite fighting games
>>4076291
not just Pokémon ripoffs, hentai artists are all over the 32-bit era
>>4076532
This is Ninja Gaiden with guns
>>4061298
I've tried it. Only a couple of minutes. Not too easy to control, but mustve been cool to have Ultima Underworld on the go back then.
ChuChu Rocket! GBA
Was really into this.
Probably had the most obnoxious sound effects I've ever heard in a game.
Loved this point n click game as a kid but I recall being stuck after a certain point.
>>4080638
Yeah I loved that game, which control scheme did you use?
>>4081085
I grew up with this too. Wonderful game. Full of heart. I got stuck as a kid too and recently finished it now that I have an adult brain.
Get it running on DOSBox, you won't regret it
>>4081138
Glad to hear someone else has played it and loved it. I can't even tell you how long it took to remember the title since I haven't played in a long time.
>>4048723
bump
>>4064695
What you say.
The controls were the best part!
>>4081146
I beat that game.
For a while, this and Tetris were the only Gameboy games I owned.
>>4081073
I've played a bit of it.
I swear i'm the only person who played this game. Loved it to death.
