What do you guys think about /vr/ remakes? Whether it be merely an updated port or a full-blown remake. I'm personally thankful we get these from time to time. It makes me happy that the the memories of older games is so strong that the developers decide to invest in a new rendition and potentially introduce a new generation of people to a game.
Currently playing pic related. Really enjoying it. The lack of awakening-era bells and whistles reminds me fondly of when FE7 first came out in the US. Sorry to dingle your berries if this thread isn't seen as /vr/.

I like remakes, if they are bad you will always have the original. If they are good you have a new awesome game to play.

I like remakes, but sometimes I feel like they don't change the games enough because they're scared about pissing off purist fags.
Also I feel like good games get remade too often, when remakes are probably the best chance to give less popular games a second chance by fixing their mistakes.
Did Ocarina of Time really need a new coat of paint? Zelda 2 on the other hand could have used a massive visual overhaul, a refined battle system, better dialogue, and a fucking check point system so you don't go back to the beginning of the game upon a game over. Throw in a few extra goodies to make travel a little more fun and suddenly Zelda 2 goes from a 5/10 to a 9/10

Wasn't Ocarina 3D just a port with a few minimal shit changed?

Gen 5 babbies don't realize how fucking UGLY these games look to people who didn't grow up with them.
