Pic related has got to be one of the best puzzle games because it's got a ton of strategy and speed involved and playing versus mode (COM but also second player) is always a blast. It surprises me how little it's mentioned compared to other classics like Dr. Mario, PDP/Tetris Attack/Pokemon Puzzle League, Tetris and PP.

As a character, I like Wario better, but Mario is more consistently good in my experience, whereas Wario games are such a mixed bag, I only really like two or three of them.

I only like Wario Land 2 and Wario World.

Wario Land 1 is too fucking slow and floaty and I don't find the exploration aspect of the othes to be fun.

WL4 isn't that exploration-based, the treasures are fairly easy to obtain (think I was only stumped on the location of one of them), as the game was designed around going fast especially after you flip the frog switch where you have to race back to the start before time's up. It's a lot more like 1 and VB than 2 or 3, though it shares elements of both.

There are various SM Fuwa Fuwa Panic games and they're all good, but my favorite is probably Super S.

Not that story matters in a puzzle game, let alone a mario puzzle game, but I think the SNES version has completely different characters who actually have dialogue.

As far as I know, the NES version only has Wario, and some bosses from Mode B who don't have dialogue.
