Pretty much got it in one there, though you missed Alien Trilogy.

Though Alien 3 is mired by its rather strict limitations on a first-time player.
Both time limit, and item scarcity, and the irratic platforming.
Makes most people give up instead of trying to find the most efficient route through the level since thats what its all about.
The game does promote a claustrophobic atmosphere and a sense of dread, so in a way its pretty faithful to its context.
I dont think its a bad game per se, as far as movie licensed games its pretty solid, buts its no classic. Its no Robocop Vs The Terminator. (Also a pretty brutal game in its own right)

NES Alien 3 is actually pretty eerie, just the first stage looks kind of shitty

Aliens TC for Doom is amazing.

Look for Aliens (TC) 2017 [v 1.2] for a version that combines it with the elements from Aliens: The Ultimate Doom. My only issue is it gives you a crazy amount of ammo but nearly no amount of health, more ammo than you would ever plausibly use, or it does so if you go exploring.

AVP 2K is probably the best official one, especially with the recent steam port and GOG stuff. I have a fun mode for that I made called "lights out' which is terrifying in MP.

As someone who played both the Genesis and SNES versions, I have to agree. I liked what the SNES version brought to the table.

Animaniacs has a sci-fi stage and the first part is an Alien reference. Facehuggers would jump out of these eggs (although sometimes, it'd be a chick and do nothing but chip). There was also an eggplant-headed Xenomorph.
The eggs/facehuggers and the xenomorph were not possible to kill.

Haven't seen that episode. I think both versions are bad because I've played them. It nails the feeling of being in a dangerous and inconvenient situation, but it's not fun. Both games suffer from fucky enemy spawns, cheap hits, and very frustrating, memorization-heavy gameplay.

I won't deny that the SNES version can be repetitive, but it's dripping with atmosphere, has great music and SFX, excellent graphics and animations, diverse enemies and good weapon control and unique mission-based gameplay (compared to MD/Genesis version). The game can get pretty challenging later on. My one criticism would be the weird floaty jumping.

Considering it's an LJN game, it's pretty damn good overall.

The euro Aliens computer game on c64/spectrum was interesting, kind of a first person Space Hulk type game. You directed a team of six through the Acheron base using a printed map, getting jumped by aliens with increasing regularity. You switched between characters in response to proximity alarms/death, etc. Very tense, especially if the power generator gets gunked up and the lights go out. Couldn't find any footage of anyone that actually understands how to play the game properly on youtube unfortunately.

Yeah, Alien was great and all, but you know what it needed? A lot more action, a billion more aliens, some marines with cool one liners, and a romance subplot. The first film just wasn't generic and predictable enough for my tastes.

It's a juvenile sequel that shoehorned boring normalfag shit to a series that didn't need it, like a family structure, a child character, an arc about robot racism, an "epic" finale, and a laughably shitty ending sequence. Alien 3 has a ton of problems, but it's better than Aliens from the very beginning because it had the balls to kill Cameron's characters regardless of what the general audience would've liked.

If you're emulating, ePSXe supports mouse. PCSXR will support mouse with the nuvee plugin. It plays fucking awesome on KB+Mouse.

Game even lets you turn off mouse acceleration. PCSXR has a widescreen hack built in that works well, long as you set GPU plugin to not maintain aspect ratio or it'll squish widescreen incorrectly hacked res.

You need the more accurate Eternal SPU Plugin set to Async+Smooth for sound or you'll run into doors that should open, but won't glitches.

Do your research--it was only budget limitations that kept them from being pink in the first movie (and then the later movies had to follow the initial coloring even though their budgets were higher). Giger asked for pink inks but the movie producers could not supply any due to their high cost; at the time, high-quality pink dye could not be synthetically produced, and the only natural source for it was a particular cuttlefish that was beginning to be hunted to extinction and that was becoming highly expensive even on the black market. The conflict over inks almost drove Giger to leave the project, but eventually he settled for blacks and grays.

I'm not sure how the pink alien concept got into the game, but it must have had some connection to the above. Maybe there was a miscommunication between Konami staff and the IP holders and some obsolete concept art was presented as being canonical, or something.
