I remember reading an article on this game. Here's the story.

The main character, you, is lured into an abandoned creepy building. You reach the top to find a lovecraftian entity is at the very top. It tells you that if you bring your three friends here it will give you the girl you are in love with, one of those three friends. The friends eventually enter the building to look for you. You have to put monsters in their path so they can't escape and only continue further into the building. If one escapes they inform authorities of the building resulting in it being torn down and a game over. At the end once you succeed in bringing them to the top the entity simply devours the girl you love. I believe it just kills you and the other two but I'm forgetting this detail.

The company who made it were famous for eroges so people bought it expecting porn and got a horror strategy game.

Its interesting but nothing special, don't go in expecting some loss classic is all I'm saying. As I said, the company behind it was mostly known for low budget eroges. Still the monster designs are pretty cool and I believe a lot of the text is actually in English surprisingly. If I'm remembering right I think the few story bits were in Japanese but the menus for actually setting up monsters are in English I believe.

Why do many retro games has such detailed death by drowning animation? Characters like Mario and Lara Croft visibly struggled as the last air escaped their lungs and water starts entering their body. I'm not sure about later Mario games but I believe PS2 Tomb Raiders (the reboot ones, the FIRST reboot) were kinda censored as it quickly fades to black as Lara starting to struggle. Other than those two I remember PS1 Tenchu games. The PS2 ones and later don't even let you go underwater.
