Have you never seen a proper remaster before? There's a lot more to it than just upscaling the image and that's why I'm asking if that's just a bad low res image or if they did a lazy transfer of the DVD release on top of cropping the image as well. At least if they cleaned up the actual image there is still some advantage towards the bluray even if it has an improper aspect ratio.
