Just picked up a SNES and recently learned about Flash Carts/ Homebrews/ Rom Hacks.
What are your favorite SNES/ NES Rom Hacks?
Any cheap Flash Carts out there?
>cheap
>good
>flash cart
Pick two.

You can find a chinese knockoff in aliexpress for 50$ or 60$. But keep in mind that you will get a lot more quality buying from krikkz for ony 15-20$ more, so..

SMW hacks can be surprisingly fun, not all of them are well made, but even some weird ones can be fun nonetheless.

Any favorites?

You can get official Ever Drive's from China on Taobao from licensed dealer there. The cost a bit more than a bootleg but a lot less than the other EverDrives. You need to hire someone to order it for you though but it costs only a few bucks.
Search TaoBao on eBay to find one.

Brutal Mario is a must play among hacks, it starts kinda normal but after World 1 it gets even more peculiar, each stage is pretty unique with gimmicks and there's many references to others games, it's a good trip.
I also like Second Reality Project Reloaded, Treasure Hunt 2, VLDC7 or 8, and a lot more, but better keep it short.

lol, got a Chinese Everdrive, still works after a year, only games that don't work are the special chip games
>>3994547
fuckin parallel worlds, man
Anyone have a link to the smokemonster packs? Mega does not work for me and I do not trust their downloader app.

1.Cheap
2.Good

Then it's not a flashcart. Duh.
>>3994617
Saying that it's hugely overrated is a vast understatement. The creators used the cheapest trick possible to iflate download count, i.e. giving the hack a name that is nothing else but bait extraordinaire.
>>3994632
It's just bad. Garbage difficulty curve, bad graphic design, and a lot more reasons.
Super Zero Mission, arguably one of the greatest ROM hacks ever made. Metroid Legacy is good too (but comes not close to SZM)>

i put this game on a cart and have never been able to get through the 2nd or 3rd dungeon boss. is there a trick im missing or am i just not a zelda master? the dungeon itself is alright and you can grab a fairy but still this boss seems to take too many hits with a random movement pattern.

Just get the SD2SNES. You'll be glad later you didn't go for cheap knock-offs.

Do you like Mega Man ?
There are plenty of hacks which make MM games better. Lag reduction patches, bug fixes, etc
For MM3, there is "Improvement" which gets rid of all lag, fixes a lot of glitches, and also has some other additions/changes which you may or may not like
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/992/
For Rockman 4 (doesn't work with MM4), lag reduction patch, there are two patches, one "standard" lag reduction, and another one which also changes other things like being able to switch weapons on the fly (but also gets rid of the autoscroll sections...)
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock4Optimization_v3.zip
For Rockman 5, but these ones also works with MM5. Lag reduction patch:
http://rock5easily.sakura.ne.jp/archive/rock5_lite.zip
Lets you say switch weapons on the fly (select, down+select, select+start):
http://rock5easily.sakura.ne.jp/archive/rock5_weaponselect.zip
Rockman 6 (does not work with MM6):
Lag reduction patch but also speeds up the process of many things, like loading times, scrolling when entering a room, etc:
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock6Optimization101.zip
Fixed sliding. In the original MM6, and unlike other MM games, you couldn't jump during a slide, plus there is a small delay, wait time, at the end of a slide. This fixes both:
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock6FixSlide2.zip
With both patches applied, RM6 becomes 100% more fun.
Mega Man X3: fully playable Zero, but also makes the game better if you play as X, by getting rid of the delay when firing several charge shots, and by making level progression less linear (you can use a battle armor as soon as you have the tanks for it, and Zero can charge subweapons even without the upgrade, thus letting you open up levels in a less linear way):

You mean Brutal Mario, Second Reality or what?
>>3994762
krikkz pls
>>3994660
You just emulated
>>3994759
Putting an overpowered boss from the 1st Dark world palace it's a kick in the balls.
>>3994632
Zelda?
I got a super everdrive china version off amazon for $55. It works like I was hoping, only downside is it takes 10-60 seconds to load a new rom. I would still recommend it though.
>>3994867
krikzz doesn't even make the SD2SNES, shit-for-brains.
>>3998427
Ikari designed it, Krikzz manufactures it.
>>3998427
He didn't design it but he does make and sell them.
Does anyone have any experience using the jack diy knockoffs?
