>Famitsu gave the game 26 points out of 40.

Famitsu is the IGN of Japan. They give scores on reputation alone. They're a joke of a publication.
Even the Japs looked down on 2D games with SNES like graphics.

Their old website. Archive didn't save a few pages. Are they just gone forever?
They ran a score contest. Are these scores any good? Prizes were iMac G3 for first, minidis players for 2-3.
Looks like a mario clone but really basic.

This may be the best PS1 game not released outside Japan, possibly second to Zanac Neo. It's hard as hell since it's basically one hit deaths, but you have unlimited continues and the checkpoints are pretty frequent. I miraculously picked this up in Osaka for about the equivalent of $120 (with spine card), a bit less than I expect to pay from a store as opposed to an auction. An amazingly clean game and definitely worth the money.

It's a platformer, but has nothing to do with mario. You don't jump on enemies, you hit with a sword. You have a down stab like in Zelda II.
It's more action, with arcade like score system.

>Famitsu giving anything under a 30
Man have times changed.
I think I need to replay it. It's terrific.

They used to be not a joke, and that time period covers this game. Until OoT they gave no perfect score.

They were clearly joking when they gave this game a 26.
