Thief for the fun robberies
I usually go fighter, having to defeat at least one of every type of enemy in the game to get 100% quest completion rating is really satisfying for me.
>>3990529
>magic user
I'm surprised they didn't call the fighter "hitty guy", or the thief "kleptomancer"
>>3990678
Funny thing about that.
Traditionally, the term "wizard" was reserved for only the absolute highest tier magic users in a world. Since DnD 1E was the primary reference material for most fantasy RPG's at the time, they followed the convention that a beginner-level adventurer that follows the path of wizardry would be referred to as a magic user. IIRC there were three titles a character could hold as they progressed in experience: Magic User/Mage/Wizard.

There's 11 in 1e
>>3990747
Wizard (12th level) is kind of misleading. It sounds like once you've hit Wizard you would have to go 12 more levels into it, not just one more.
>>3990753
There was so much in 1e that was misleading. Wasn't the whole percent chance of a monster to "lie" a cause for a lot of confusion? I think it was supposed to be a percent chance the PC's would encounter the monster while it's sleeping, e.g. "lying down".
>>3990763
cont.
Wheras folks often interpreted that as "percent chance monster will tell a lie if asked a question"

You actually become a certified wizard in the second game.
>>3990753
Sort of true, Gary's fantasy thesaurus seems to have ran out around 10th level for most classes. I dunno why it wasn't until level 16 you became a "mage" then another unnamed level between that and "arch-mage".

>>3990529
start as fighter, acquire magic skill, sneak everywhere
>>3990529
Anyone here had enough time on their hand back then to put a minimum of points to all 3 classes then grind it all up to the max.
>>3990735
also in original D&D fighters were called "fighting-man" so it's not like spellcasters had a monopoly on dumb on-the-nose class names
>>3991394
aaaaaaaaaah
Hah.
>>3991464
That used to be what I always did, but you have to pick thief as your base class to be able to put points into every skill.
>>3990753
No, because you were always a wizard. You just had to believe in yourself!
>>3991660
>tfw you always believed you were a wizard but then you find out that an ancient wizard actually possessed you so you travel to the past, kill him and possess yourself instead
>>3991636
this is fucking me up, the tab makes it look like a guy with a lot of hair's face.
>>3991809
Where do you people come from?
Thief was the most consistently entertaining class through the series.
>>3992225
>ground those up
I get what you're saying but it just sounds wrong
>>3991817
reddit why?
>>3992225
Enjoy not being able to climb anything OHHHHH
>>3990678
You earn the title of wizard in the second game.
>>3992035
That scene happens for all classes.
Also, the theif is super boring in the third game and is required to get a shit ending to one of the quests in the fourth. It's really not fair.
