These are 2x SNES resolution (8:7). Look good. Breath of Fire II, one of the best looking games on the SNES.

This is 3x one of many PS1 resolutions (4:3). Looks like an absolute dogshit. I pretend it will look decent in original res or even upper than that in some cherrypicked locations, but scaling it up exposes the ugliness of the game, both sprites and low-poly 3D. Reminder that PC version has auto xBR on sprites and Times New Roman font, so it's as ugly as the PS1 version. Someone also tell that stupid that even with integer SCREEN scaling it won't necessary make sprites be in the same pixel ratio in output bitmap as they originally are, because it's a 2D/3D mix game rendered in OpenGL.
