did you own any piece of merch related to retro games as a kid? Still have it?

I purchased the original soundtrack to pokemon the first movie at a flea market last month. If that counts.
>>3989490
The one with the M2M song? Sweet.
>>3989491
yes actually. I replaced the jewel case with a new one because the one I got was kicked to shit. Still though not bad for a dollar.
My shelf is also to smaller for gamecases the likes of xbox or ps2 so things just about this size are pretty perfect.
I've still got my Mario McDonald's toys from the Super Mario 3 promotional Happy Meal, spent plenty of time playing on the bathroom floor popping the spring loaded Mario as high as I could get him.
A fair amount. I have two of the Duke 3D shirts that you could order from 3DRealms. Also have two Zelda OOT shirts, suction spring Koopa Paratroopa, various other things.
I have every issue of the old Electric Tale of Pikachu comics.
>>3989740
I have 2 issues of that I bought back then.
Too bad it's censored in the western version.
I had a(might still have somewhere?) small SMB suitcase. Don't know where it's gone. Sometimes I wonder if it mightn't have some value, but that was all likely lost when I actually used it as a kid. Got all knocked up and ratty.

I have a similar coloring book that I kept for some reason. Some of my colorings were atrocious.

>they keep making that awkward mistake of making mario look like his legs coming from his crotch
Did people really not notice at the time?
>>3990264
Holy shit. I never noticed until you pointed that out and I've had that book for decades.
>>3990306
I do a lot of drawing so its pretty easy to tell, at this angle his the contours near the base of his front leg should be at least partially obstructed by his body.
Actually when you really look at it. it looks like his legs would exist in the exact same place if he stood up straight.
Something also worth noting is that the lakitu on the bottom is just a stretched version of the one on the top, and the koopa in the back doesn't seen to exist on any natural plane. That and the scaling doesn't seem to make sense. Those clouds in the background look way closer than the mountains even though I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be behind them. Toad is way too small all things considered and the koopas too large. marios fist thats farther away from us is also bigger than the one thats closer to us, but I'd honestly let that one slide more than anything else.
It's a pretty shit cover when you analyze it but I actually do like it.

You're putting way too much thought into a kid's coloring book.
Yup. Just found this the other day.
I used to have this book as a kid. It came with an audio cassette that narrated it. I remember watching my brother play Zelda 2, and I wanted to play it so bad because of how cool it looked, but he would never let me. Rightfully so, though, because one day I secretly played it when he was out and I stupidly saved over his game file. So because I couldn't play it, I was obsessed with this book and watching the Zelda cartoon every Friday.
I wish I still had it and the tape, but I think my mom sold them in a garage sale. I also used to have a bunch of the Mario and Zelda comics from the early 90s.
>>3991307
Still have this book, along with a Mario one by the same publisher. Was gonna take a pic for this thread, but they're both buried at the bottom of my underwear drawer and I couldn't be bothered to dig them out.
>>3991290
I have a Mario 64 shirt I ordered from the Nintendo Power catalog in 1997. It's the only video game shirt I feel comfortable wearing because it's grandfathered into my wardrobe. It still fits and has authentic wear on the printing.
>>3991470
It's weird to think that there was a time when game culture was still such a niche that to get merchandise, you had to order it from a special catalog. Now it's in every fucking store you walk into.
>>3991467
I decided to clean out my underwear drawer. Apparently all the /vr/ merch I own besides that book was in there. Found this awesome Sonic t-shirt I remember wearing in the 2nd grade, which was like 1993 for me.
>>3991504
Also this Mario facecloth. I recall it came with a towel, which might be in a box in my closet.
>>3991507
And a color-changing Mario straw, the Mario and Luigi which went with a weird ladder-climbing race game, which I'm pretty sure is still in my mom's attic. The Luigi pencil with I used a lot during 1st grade, and the little Bulbasaur which I'm certain was a bootleg I bought in New York from a shifty Chinese store in 1999 during a family vacation.
>>3991515
And lastly this awesome Zelda pocket watch I also bought from the Nintendo Power catalog in 1997. I recall buying another one that had a bigger picture of Link, but I'm not sure where it is.
>>3991518
And these old PVC figures which were some of my favorite childhood toys. They've never been out of my possession. They've never been stored away at all, I just always had them around. Even when I stopped playing with them, I used to stand them on top of my NES, which was almost always hooked up. Not sure when I got Mario and the Princess, but Link, Luigi and Fire Mario came from the gift shop at the top of Mount Washington which I think I visited in 1990

Duck i cant un see
>>3991515
Oh shit, I used to have the Mario version of that pencil! It was like he was sliding down a flagpole with a flag topper that went over the eraser.
>>3991518
I forgot all about the Nintendo Power catalog! They had so much cool shit in those. The only thing I could ever afford was a Yoshi dogtag. I seem to recall something about special Nintendo Power stamps that you could use to get a discount from the catalog. I don't remember anything else about them or how you would get them, so maybe I'm confusing them with something else. Anyone remember anything like that?
>>3991619
>special Nintendo Power stamps
I don't recall those specifically, but it sounds like something Nintendo would have done. Might have been before my time. I didn't subscribe to Nintendo Power as a kid. My first issue was 1997 when I was already 12.
>>3991675
Did a search and found out that they were indeed a thing. This was probably around 95 or so, but I couldn't find much info about them.
>>3991474
>have an ocd mother
>when she orders special shit like this she goes all the way
>saves up wrappers or UPCs or what have you to redeem for them
>always gets 3 of everything
>"One to use, one to break and one to save"
>have tons of pristine cereal themed shirts from the 80s in boxes
Thanks mom!
>>3991518
I passed on one of these for $2 at a flea market several years ago because that Zelda 64 logo looked bootleg as fuck.
>>3989479
I still have an NES cleaning kit
>>3991718
Haha. My mom wasn't that nuts, but she never threw anything out. Most of the shit from my childhood is still probably saved somewhere in her house.
I still have an assload of Nintendo Power
Who the fuck won this? Last I checked, buy-a-star shit has never been official, even back in the 90's
>>3992085
I entered this, but I cared more about getting an N64 with Mario 64 than I did about the Star name thing.
>>3991719
>because that Zelda 64 logo looked bootleg as fuck.
Yeah, it does, doesn't it. I think these were actually made before there was an official name for the game, or at least close enough to the decision of the actual name that it was too late to change the design on the watch.
>>3991518
>>3991719
I can't find it right now, but here's a pic of what the other one looked like.

I just found my childhood copy, I couldn't find pictures of its pages online so I've taken pics and I'll be dumping them.
>>3993870
The leg coming from the crotch picture is also here
>>3993872
My painting skills weren't the best at age 5 or so. I also used markers instead of coloring pencils, and I wasn't very patient.
>>3993876
>>3993881
I fucked up the colors here. I don't know why because I think colors were the only words I knew in english back then (not my first language)

I was good at coloring Mario here, if I do say so myself
