Castlevania is only fun on the 16 bit or later consoles since the first one is a fucking pain in the ass.

I am given a health bar yet one hit knocks me off of the fucking platform killing me. If i wanted to deal with 1 hit death id play ghosts&goblins.

The first one is a pain in the ass that kicks my ass. I get killed with one hit just because when you get hit you bounce back into a pit.

So far i have had the most fun with the SNES and Genesis ports of the games

Got Rondo of Blood on Wii's Virtual Console a few months ago. I fell in love with it. It is the greatest Castlevania imho. I played through SotN afterwards, and still am blown away more by Rondo than SotN. Rondo is greatest CV ever.

Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo is the best single player Castlevania for sure (imho). Harmony of Despair was fucking amazing.
