Use a more blurry CRT, then it's unnoticeable.

Not OP. I play on a CRT and even with composite you can still see the dithering easily.

The best model is 55xx as it has the early audio DAC, later VDP and all the expansion ports along with a metal laser assembly.

I play US PS1 games on a PS2 through component and JP PS1 games on a PS1 through s-video, and the dithering has never been a problem. Is this the new trendy thing to complain about?

This. I grew up with it and I knew at the time how shit it looked. IMO that's part of the charm.

Dithering only looks bad when you upscale it by something other than integer scale.

Driver and Driver 2 look terrible because of it. You should see how fucked they look played with the PS3's emulation.
