I just picked up and modded a Wii as an all in one retro system. I'm pretty impressed except that I get diagonal lines showing over the picture when I play via component on any LCD.

Is the Wii video out just naturally a bit grainy or is there something wrong with it?

The Wii is not an HD system.
Also get a CRT; the Wii supports 240p.

RGB > Components.

Wii supports 480 to 567 as far as I know, Wii doesn't user 240.
