Is pic related /vr/, or am I in trouble?
I'm sure it's /vr/ in one way or another. It came out on PCs first on hardware that's retro? Probably doesn't count.
"Honorary retro" is a term I've heard used here.

It is officially accepted as /vr/, so feel free to talk about DX here.
>When you see someone talk about a game released after Dec 31st 1999 AD 23:59:59 PM

>talking about a 17 year old game
NOT RETRO

you're in trouble BOGEY
It's definitely retro. The game was developed before 2000 and only released in 2000 because of the publishing. We've had plenty of DX threads before no problem.
I recently finished this game for the second time. Still a fantastic game. Took me about 48 hours to complete in leisure completionist style. I remember my first playthrough being like 30 hours.
if a game is set in the future then its not retro

Nice selective reading, cunt.
STICK WITH THE PROD
To get the thread going and to end the chain of shitposting I would like to offer the following thoughts:
One of the reasons why this succeeded as a game is because the narrative has characters that are apparently mature, for example the quartermaster, a military vet who advises and even punishes excessive use of force, or Jaime Reyes who is just a medical professional who you can talk to in a neutral way.
There's something brilliant about how Deus Ex remembers to include the mundane as well as the dramatic. All other games are 100% drama, so there's no contrast and therefore they invariably come across like a B-movie.
