also this is not just a sonic thread, but any enemy who really grinded your gears
>>3938869
I did come to find troubling when that fellow blocked my path
>>3938953
I have no problem with normal Medusa heads, though i'll admit they gave me a damn lot of trouble on every first playthrough.
Now, the Medusa heads that fucking turn you to stone in SotN and onwards? Fuck them, especially in clock towers when there's spikes beneath you.
Non-retro: Dragon Quest 8, when you first encounter the Ding-a-ling enemies, and they constantly keep calling back up, over and over, and you're stuck in that one fucking battle for a half hour. Excellent exp grinding, though
You think you're tough with your versatile whip? No problem, I'll just fly around you in an erratic pattern to drive you insane.
>>3938869
He's annoying, but he's only one enemy and the level design doesn't make him too difficult to get around
But every enemy in metropolis zone is a complete cunt, and they're all put in places to screw you over. Like the crab who punches you into the lava and is damn near impossible to go over. Or the two giant screws with a million starfish trying to blow you off. That shit is mean
They can be really annoying sometimes and I really hate their cries.
>>3938953
>come from the side of the screen you're facing
>unwavering, predictable pattern
Medusa heads are dandy, even in areas where they accompany other enemies.
Fuck CV birds though. Annoying, erratic cunts.

>medusa heads
>unwavering
*fucks you up with its path*
>>3939161
I died a lot until I figured there were these little green bars that switched formation, at first I thought the spider had a random path so I tried to dash back and forth and sometimes I fucked her but most of the times I didn't. When I realized about the bars I was like Oooooh fuck.
THIS
FUCKING
GUY
>>3939072
Defintely the worse enemies in Sonic 2
>>3938869
Just insta-shield through the ball and chain and destroy him. The insta-shield is a wonderful thing, and it's a shame Sonic Team has all but forgotten about it.
>but the homing attack
Is a shallow, spoon feeding, hand holding, flow breaking, press X to win move. The insta-shield required that you at least get close to enemies to attack them. They could have easily brought it into 3D if they really wanted.
But then, they could have done a lot of things.
>>3939081
haha good times though
I miss dinosaur like creatures in games. It seemed they were unavoidable at one time
Any enemy I hate looking at.
I can't really justify this shit, but there's just certain enemies who just piss me off because of how stupid-looking they are.
That shit drives me up the walls.
Raged at this guy today, fuck him
>>3940817
Use the weapon from ostrich guy.
>>3939072
The crab isn't too bad once you learn to jump over him safely, but the mantis is a genuine dicksucker. There's one at the end of Act 3 that I swear must have artificial intelligence that allows him to aim precisely at you every time.
>>3940826
It's fucking hard to hit him with that, i just used magnet mine
>>3939240
>But then, they could have done a lot of things.
S-Stop it, Anon. You're giving me feels I don't want to feel. :(
>>3940834
According to Zone 0 there really is one Mantis that is placed such that you have a 99% chance of hitting him.
Like, literally the only way you cannot is to take this one alt path that throws a flag preventing him from spawning altogether. That is the only way you are not getting hit.
>>3940835
Use the powered-up slicer. Pic related.
>>3939081
wtf man, those guys are super easy to dodge
PUT YOUR BALLS IN MY MOUTH NOW PLEASE.
These fuckers on the FC in FFIII. Jesus Christ. I get that ninjas are supposed to be hard af but these guys are practically demiboss tier and you can not run away from them. I had an easier time with the gigantic troll that popped out of the Hardened treasure chest.
This mother fuck
>>3939152
>always come from the direction you face
>keep the same speed
>follow the same path
>don't turn around
>keep on spawning until you move to the next screen
Yes unwavering, incessant, persistent, unremitting, etc.
Sup, fuckers.
>>3941141
I like how there's a free, respawning life before this fight because they KNOW it's horse shit.
*throws you*
This fucker from E.V.O. the Search for Eden
If you're on the left side of him and make a mistake, he grand-slams you out of the level so you have to come back and start all over again. If you're on the right side of him and make a mistake, he stun-locks you into oblivion.
>>3941141
both versions of this faggot can suck my fucking cock
hes gonna get you
>>3944678
I like to think he's a butler rushing a plate with butter to you.
>>3939240
>insta-shield
holy shit oh yeah
Shambling Bastards
>>3944678
literally just press A
>>3944990
I tried starting gold box with pool of radiance. It's not my first older D&D run, I did Eye of the Beholder last week. Any advice on starting in since this is a much different beast?
The enemies that fly out of the pipes in Metroid (especially in Ridley's hideout).
The horse-head guys in Zelda II.
The yellow car in R.C. Pro AM when he goes into hyperspeed mode.
The yellow skiers in Slalom.
And basically every obstacle in Paperboy.
>>3944141
>immune to the bible
FUCK THIS CUNT
>>3944691
cant unsee ever
actually everything in metropolis zone is a bitch
>>3948054
i just noticed the earlier post, my bad
>>3938869
this fucking sun
>>3941674
these guys never caused me trouble when i was younger, now i can't not get thrown at least once every few minutes
>>3938869
OI MATE! WAS DA U DOIN'? CLIMBIN'S TAH STAIRS? 'ERE LEMME HELP U WE DAT
>>3939161
Never fought that fuck legit, always wrecked him with hadoken
Half the damn enemies from Landstalker:
>giant mushrooms that can and will disguise themselves among harmless mushrooms
>that are completely invulnerable while in the disguised state
>that will always pop up at a spot where you can't hurt them but they can hurt you
>the time when they pop up to fuck your shit up is completely random
>that can also rape your shit with status effects and are the only enemies that cause status effects
>said rape is ranged in that they don't even have to be near you to cause the effect
>other enemies include skeletons with shields that are block and jump happy
>specters/reapers that constantly teleport and shoot fireballs
>fucking ghosts and their generators that are always on spots guaranteed to rape your HP
>fucking Ninjas in general
>your ONLY weapon in the entire game is an extremely short ranged broadsword that can be upgraded to swords that do more damage but only with long charging
>>3952434
>released more than four years before any the Nintendo 64
>more than five years before Zelda 64 preview images
>main character's design is ridiculously similar to Adult Link in Ocarina of Time
>right down to the collared, green tunic, mid-length blond hair, and knee-high brown leather boots
I understand that he was very likely inspired by previous designs of Link, but he's so similar specifically to the Ocarina of Time version that it's hard to think of it as a coincidence.
>>3939072
FUCK THESE GUYS
GOD DAMMIT
>mantis's blades home in on you
>crab has like 3 pixels you can actually hit otherwise you take damage from the claw
>fucking starfish knocking me off the screws
>>3944141
hate these fucking assholes
>finally getting to the end of the game
>every room is 3 or more of them teleporting around shooting at you while you try to get through
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
>>3941141
Fuck, I'm playing MM&B and I'm stuck at this guy. Any tip? Any weapon it's weak against? His HP doesn't even show, that's what pisses me off the most I think.
>>3953521
He's weak to the drill weapon. Just jump up and let it kinda drop into him. He's got less health than the tank too, so keep laying into him
>>3938869
the crows or the horse heads in super castlevinia, actually any flying animal or monster in castlevania
>>3944141
Rapelords.
