Wario Time
Truly the greatest Nintendo character
Toys R Us has a 3-for-$20 sale on amiibos last week. You bet your ass that Wario was one I got. He's staring and flexing at me right now!
The flow of WAH in this thread is disturbingly slow.
Best Warioge coming through.
Imma gonna win!

Further proof that Nintendo doesn't know what's good for them. This fucker had the best platformers of his time and they reduced him to a mini game salesman.

The franchise was has always been kinda secondary for Nintendo. WL4, Smooth Moves and Touched all sold very well. But then Master of Disguise was met with mixed reviews and underwhelming sales; DIY's sales were pretty average too. And finally, Game & Wario flopped really hard.
So I think it's not unreasonable to imply that recently the franchise has been on a losing streak—aside from Shake It (which turns 9 this year, btw). Seeing how even Metroid has now been shoved in the corner, I wouldn't expect Nintendo to bring Wario back very soon.

>Master of Disguise was met with mixed reviews and underwhelming sales
It was developed by some no name company anyway.
Nintendo should never have dissolved R&D1.

Of course it's sad R&D1 got restructured, but then again, WL Shake It, WW Touched, Twisted and Smooth Moves were all met well and got good (or at least decent) sales.
I also hate Nintendo outsourcing their games, especially with portable Yoshi's Island and Master of Disguise.

what exactly happened with R&D1? I love how iconic and well designed most AED games are, but I kinda feel that R&D1 platformers were very innovative and risky. I was playing Wario Land II this afternoon, and even by today standards the game is not only good but better than most modern games. All that branching paths, all that hidden content (and I mean hidden in a smart way, not just placing random shit here and there)
Seriously, I never saw a Mario game with that ammount of quality.

Bump for Wario
Replaying Mario Land 2 for the first time in over a decade. Holy balls I forgot how unforgiving Wario's castle is - expecting you to run that whole gauntlet without a checkpoint.

this is why i miss r&d1
they were a rival department and you need a dynamic like that or otherwise all nintendo games start to feel the same

>Rest of the game is a cakewalk
>Wario's Castle is legitimately challenging
I love it. Never beaten it without a bunny ear hood though
