Are they really THAT bad?
Actually they are. Literally only good for the cutscenes. Don't waste your time actually playing it.

The music can be good sometimes too.
I didn't like them, but I've only played them on an emulator with the worst control scheme I've ever seen. Still, I've heard the real CD-i controllers are just as bad. They're one of the few action games on the CD-i, and the controls may be why.
Basically they suck, but they might have sucked less on a better system.

Faces of Evil was average, Wand of Gamelon is utter shit. Good art and decent music though.

Zelda's Adventure was a cool idea that got fucked by having a budget of $5.
It looks and plays like an unpolished SNES version of Zelda 2 (in an analogy that Link to the Past is an SNES version of Zelda 1)

And what was that idea, exactly?

It's top down like the original LoZ, but everything is done with actual actors and miniatures of monsters.
The problem being, that they had a budget of like $5, so all the green screen stuff was done in office, all the voice work and acting was done by the office staff, and shit.
The enemy models look cool at least.

There's a real genuine quality to the racist monster voices.

lol wow that looks worse than vomit

>want to make some awesome Zelda games for the new SNES CD add-on
>Nintendo gives you the permission
>pulls funding at the last minute, says they're abandoning the idea, thinks by pulling the funding they'll stop you from making games of their beloved franchise
>stick it to em anyway
Sony ended up with the far better outcome, but hey, can't fault Philips for trying to fuck over the assholes running the Big N.
