Was gonna mention Quake 4 but in retrospect, I guess it wasn't THAT bad. Just a pretty bland and generic shooter. Did like the parts where you would go aboard the ships and have the breifings though.

Hell, I'd even go further and say Wolfenstien didn't have a bad game either. The worst was probably the 2009 one, and even then it was a blast. Semi-open world and could mod guns. Bayonetting nazis in throat was pretty fun and satisfying.

Honestly probably would have been better off if it stuck with the whole "4 space marines doing stuff, nothing to do with Metroid" thing, at least then a couple people would probably respect it as a glanced over game that plays like Metroid Prime, and eventually it would develop some sort of cult following, and maybe even have it's own franchise of some sort. There is a point where even a series like Kirby that is known for its easy game entries crosses a point and becomes way too fucking easy.

Epic Yarn did that. You can't even fucking die in that game, there is no failstate and the game doesn't pose other challenges either since it's so linear and straightforward.

The Chao Garden is mostly something to mess around with after you beat the game, really.

Adventure 2 is one of those games where I feel like the postgame is miles better than the actual campaign. Trying to get A ranks on your favorite missions then coming back with a haul of rings to spend on your Chao.

Doom.

Bad ports, maybe, but the Doom series is amazing

Doom I and II are probably the most praised /vr/ fps.

Final Doom: TNT is underwhelming but not unplayable, and Plutonia is arguably the best "official" Doom wad.

Doom 64 is the black sheep but is still well-regarded and has its own things going.

Doom 3 was a fun fps, took more of a horror focus, but for its time was a good game unlike its contemporaries.

Doom 2016 is just badass fun that lives up to the original. Might be a little "brutal doom" for some people's taste but it's a respectable entry.

I've only ever heard good things about Doom/Doom II RPG.

People heavily overstate the problems with Doom 3, probably because of all the jokes about it being impossible to see anything. Maybe it was difficult if you played on a shitty monitor, I don't know. The player moves slow and can't take damage compared to "realistic" shooters, but it's still possible to do what this guy is saying and run around blasting shit like it's a Doom game. The people who talk about Doom 3 like it was a Sweet Home tier survival horror and everyone hated it are morons or learned about that era from this website.

Pokemon Dash and the original Pokemon Ranger murder original DS touchscreens. I worked at a game store when Ranger came out, and for a few months after that nearly half of all the Nintendo DS's that came in couldn't be taken in because the bottom screen was that fucked up from Pokemon Ranger.

Thankfully they changed the capture mechanic in the two sequels, so you didn't have to draw up to 30 fucking circles without letting your cursor get hit by a single attack for some of the enemies.

I've since started Earthbound, and I wasn't enjoying myself much until Threed. Mr. Saturn village was fun too. I hope it gets better.

I can't wait to move on to mother 3 though. I've heard that it's more like the first game.
