I recently discovered the OST of Super Monaco GP (Genesis).
The game itself looks really bad, but listen at that epic music, by the master Tokuhiko Uwabo:

Samurai Shodown's port on Game Boy was not a very good game, but some of the music is amazing.
Ukyo's theme on Game Boy is more ominous, powerful and danceable than in any other version:

those are top tier games though
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World has fascinating remixes of the original Shinobi theme, look at how the Master System sings:

The problem with these old racing games is that they look unplayable today... Just saw a video of Super Hang-On which was one of my favorite games in the 90s, and bleh!
But they provided a good challenge indeed.
>>3926602
I loved Toshinden more than any other fighting game on PSX, even though I know it's far from being "objectively" the best.
It had this winning combination of mild realism + SF2-like special moves + weapons + cool graphics + good characters + god-tier music + nice controls with the L-R buttons dodging, etc.
Why no one really attempted to make other games with this concept still baffles me.

Eternal Champions had fucking awesome lore, and incredibly good presentation. You could read the character bios ingame, you had training rooms, you could configure training alone, against enemies, against drones, for points or survival or whatever.
All of that would take nearly a decade to become standard features in fighting games.
The whole concept of the Eternal Champion as an entity, and the story behind the battle, was great too.
Fuck Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, they should do a modern remake of this game.
>>3927989
The character bios with that music were awesome indeed... like pure condensed "baka" stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbrkMN73mHs
The game had good features, neat characters and concept, attractive design--but the fighting experience itself was somewhat off. Maybe it was the physics or the controls, but it just didn't felt as right as your usual Capcom or SNK fighter.
Also, absolutely horrible difficulty. I like challenging games, but the last boss was downright impossible to beat.
The "bad ending" music was satisfying enough though.

Anon, stop watching videos and play games. I can agree Super Hang On on Genesis is kinda weak because of the slower controls' responsesomehow it's improved with overclocking/using an emulator that supports overclocking like Megasisbut the arcade version still amazing and worth a try.Except for the music I really like the GBA version also
