It was even worse during the 5th gen console wars. The lack of RPGs was always a valid sticking point against the N64, so far too many folks were willing to call Ocarina of Time an RPG. I was still a frothing Nintendo fanboy at the time but even I in good conscience couldn't call it an RPG.
