You mean because you have to hold the lever down to keep the middle gear turning? I guess I can see people not realizing that. Otherwise it's a pretty standard puzzle.

Otherwise there is no puzzle, even the weight on the side is just a totally pointless and fake limit to make people think it's possible to enter the code normally.

No? It's there to limit the amount of fiddling you can do. Believe it or not most people still need to mess around the controls to enter the code correctly. It's not supposed to be a "trick" that holding down the handle does something. It sounds like you didn't consider it and are mad at the game because of that.

Did you play it on a touchscreen? I could see someone getting used to tapping everything instead of trying to try a hold, but dragging the handle down and holding it is much more natural-feeling with a mouse.
