Retro Arch Wii Versions

Don't waste your time trying to use RetroArch on the Wii. The standalone emulators for various consoles offer as good or better emulation and UI that are actually designed specifically for the Wii.

Do the stand alone emulators display correct resolutions? I haven't had any issues since I started using Retroarch on the Wii a year ago.

Mednafen has great support for PCE titles, including CD. Also supports ogg audio if you feel like compressing those CD rips too. 240p double-strike output over composite, too.

The GX emulators have all worked great for me, as has Gen Plus, except the wiimote fugs on the menu screen for Gen.

How is Wii for arcade emulation? Last I checked it uses some obscure romset version. Haven't gotten around to building said romset since I'm not sure if it's worth it.

This is because the emulators that the cores steal from were never actually meant to be run on a Wii, or rather a PowerPC-based architecture which the Wii is using.
Retroarch's console releases doesn't anything to change how those emulators run on the Wii, it just operates as a half-assed passthrough.

If you weren't fucking retarded, you'd know that this applies to every single emulator on Wii. No one is going to waste time writing an emulator from the ground up for a shitty console, they're all ports of PC emulators.

Retroarch wii worked great for me but it is annoying as hell to have to set the resolution each time i start it
