Which version did you grow up with? Which version is the best?

played the Apple II one in school on green monochrome monitors

This, but we did have grayscale monitors when I played it.

Honestly I can't remember what kind of computers we had or which version we played. It was either the DOS or Apple II one.

For some reason I kinda think we had IBMs, so probably the DOS one? Might have to look through old photo albums to see if I can find any classroom photos from back then.

Never played it. I think, like Apple, it was just a weird thing that fascinated small minded Americans.

I played it growing up in New Zealand on a Macintosh LC-II and loved it so it's spread goes far beyond the States.

Me too, except I don't remember for sure that they were green. Actually I think some of them had EGA color or whatever? But yeah it was basically that one.

Later I played one on Windows that was also pretty fun. I played on Windows 95, but this port of the game may have been written for 3.1, or not; I have no idea how old it was.

I have the impression that the main differences among versions are in the hunting interface and the interface for rafting that final river (the Dalles?). Also general audiovisual feel of course. Otherwise the game is just menus and simple animations, so it's gonna be pretty fully portable.

I don't care for the opinions of colonials.
