For my aesthetic preferences, I'd say either swap the bottom two or make them equal. T-t-t-tuuuurbo is for tiny-brainers anyway, so that adds nothing to the Sharp.
>>
>>3897736
Twin Fami is nothing special, no AV Fami on that list renders it objectively incorrect.

Someone redpill me on the disc system. I have an RGB moded AV Famicom but I see literally no need to get a disc system because almost everything eventually got a cartridge release with zero load times and immensely better reliability.

In order from worst to best:
NES-001, front-loading design is unreliable compared to all other models
HVC-101, RF out is the lowest you can go, and it's all you get with this one.
NES-101, basically the original Famicom, but the controllers aren't hardwired to the console.
AN-500B/R, Famicom + Disk System in one console? Why not?
AN-505-BK/RD, same as above but with turbo buttons.
HVC-101, compatible with NES accessories, and uses the good ol' Nintendo multi-out port.

Basically, >>3897782

I asked to explain it like I was five, not like you were five.
>>
>>3899058
Thanks anon, I largely agree with your list. I have a soft spot for the original Fami though, despite its poor video (though it's better quality RF than the NES-101). I'd probably tie the original Fami and the 101; FC has better RF, but 101 has the convenience of removable controllers.

what about the titler?
s-video and you could rf to a camcorder, record and then add subs to your game vids.

>>3899058 here.

If it does support S-Video (and by that I mean it doesn't push composite quality over S-Video), then by my logic it would be the best version of the Famicom. Given its rarity, I forgot the Titler even existed until you mentioned it.

>then add subs to your game vids
Wouldn't that be easier done with a good video editor?
>>
>>3901519
The Titler has a real RGB PPU, it's different from the PC-10 one, a unique beast. It does s-video natively, but you have to mod for RGB (which would be a fucking travesty because they are exceedingly rare and expensive).
>>
>>3901728
Doesn't it also have the garish colors though?
>>
>>3901742
It has one of the two correct Famicom RGB color palettes, if that's what you mean.

The Dendy Classic, and all Steepler Dendy models really, use the 15-pin controller port.
>>
>>3901748
Is it as garish as the PC-10?
>>
>>3901758
I don't know for sure, there's very little in the way of screenshots online. I've heard it differs slightly from the PC-10. That said, you talk about the PC-10 palette like it's bad, but it's basically the only true RGB palette for the NES/FC.
>>
>>3901765
>That said, you talk about the PC-10 palette like it's bad, but it's basically the only true RGB palette for the NES/FC
Sure, but it looks nothing like how any TV ever displays the image.

PC-10.jpg
3MB, 4032x3024px
>>3901778
That's because the NES doesn't have an RGB PPU in it, it has no defined palette at all. The PC-10 displays the image with its singular, defined RGB palette; pic related
>>
>>3901796
I'm well aware of how the Famicom doesn't have an absolute palette, but the PC-10's palette looks nothing like how a regular Famicom would look on any TV.
>>
>>3901812
that's not the point though, if you want an RGB palette that's not something made up for an emulator, PC-10 or Titler are the definitive choices is all I'm saying.
>>
>>3901728
>but you have to mod for RGB (which would be a fucking travesty because they are exceedingly rare and expensive).

>>
>>3902153
I mean on the upside, the actual hardware is capable of it so it's at least better than sticking an FPGA inside your console. But these things are like $700-2500, and s-video is pretty damn awesome for 8-bit machines.
>>
what if the toaster had fami coloration?
>>
>>3902260
The fuck is this monster
>>
>>3901519
yes, but video toaster wasn't out yet. It would lanch the next year for $2400 and required a new amiga to put it in, around $5k usd. earlier video editors were prob as clunky as the titler. 486dx wasn't that great and was really expensive.
>>
>>3902974
famicom titler, check it out, pretty neat
>>
>>3902994

>>
>>3897736
>>3899058
I would just get an HVC-001 (original Famicom) because it has a microphone and doesn't look like a weird Famiclone like the Twin Famicom.

If I want high quality video, I will just mod it with RGB, Tim Worthington's NESRGB kit is apparently of a much higher quality when installed in original Famicoms.

I would also get the Famicom Disk System, of course.

I think there are no NES accessories worth getting which didn't already have a Famicom equivalent.

>>
>>3906392
should i buy one? I've been on the fence forever. Analogue is too fucking expensive when I have 6 Famicoms in the closet, AVS is just about right price wise. It does have the shitty FC slot, but it looks like it gets the job done overall.
>>
>>3898021
more like Film Robert
>>
>>3906843
I've got an NES Everdrive, so the FC drive hasnt really been an issue for me. But I was patient and waited for a good prices used AVS to pop up through Buy/Sell/Trade forums & Ebay and got one for the the appropriate price (a bit under $180 shipping included)

Either wait to buy one used, or wait til RetroUSB attends some convention and you can buy in in person.

The AVS would be damn near a must own at $150 flat. But $180 plus shipping taking it over $200 is a bit high.
>>
>>3906843
>It does have the shitty FC slot
It sucks that they focused the design on the shitty NES so much.
>>
>>3907081
Makes sense, good calls anon.
>>3907331
agreed wholeheartedly
>>
>>3908307
It's neat how the 4 controller parts are both compatible with the Hori adapter and the FourScore, but the Famicom cartridge slot is really poorly designed.
>>
>>3908323
yeah, and I'm a Fami guy. Sucks. I would prefer a 2 controller port model with 3 toploading slots. It could be a plastic box desu
>>
>>3908342
I'd just like one without the hatch, with just a normal toploading slot for Famicom games. Having FourScore support would still be nice though if you were playing NES games through an Everdrive or adapter.
