I think both Genesis/PC and SNES versions are worth playing, they are different enough to stand on their own as distinct products.
Also the SNES is missing the boss music.

It's weird how some of those old PC ports are worse than their console parts. Another game that suffered from that was Earthworm Jim 1&2. The best version was the Sega CD one.
