Shocked that so little romhacking has been done on the game. Presumably that means the game hasn't been reverse engineered, and the encryption methods have not been broken. This shit can take a lot of time to make. Just in 2016, someone made an editor for Super Castlevania, allowing people to access the assets in an uncompressed format, making it possible to do all sort of hacking feats.
The romhacks that do exist are just messing with Hex values to change stats, or full translations.
Will we ever get proper SotN romhacking tools, like Super Metroid and other games? Imagine exploring a totally new layout of the castle, featuring creatures from later Castlevania titles, or even new proagonists?

I first saw that when it started, like 10 years ago. It just is a ridiculous project that spirals out of control. It's going nowhere and will never finish.
In this time, someone has made an actual SotN hard-type hack. It gets updates here and there, but it's effectively done.

his sprite matches his SotN portrait art versus the PSx is how he's portrayed in Dracula X/Rondo of Blood
so much so that in the Saturn version, when you play the "blood lines" level, it's the Rondo sprite, but every time after it's the new one
