>"dude just get a CRT bro"
>go on craigslist
>find CRT
>buy it for 20 dollars
>bring it home and turn it on
>.....EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Yeah, the chances of you finding a CRT in 2017 without coil whine is slim to fucking none. That shit is annoying.
>>3887946
Why didn't you ask to test it out first?
>>3887946
Just turn the volume up louder
>>3887957
I did but it was pretty noisy in the place that I bought it so I couldn't tell, and it was kinda sketch so I just wanted to buy it and gtfo
I bought an unused CRT in packaging on ebay and it was worth it for the convenience rather than meeting strangers after work in parking lots.
How easy is it to unload a CRT off craigslist, because I got one that's just sitting in my basement taking up space. No coil whine either!

>post add
>post price
>specify that they must do the lifting
>get email and arrange time
its easy
>>3888006
What would be a fair price for a 23" with mono sound and only coaxial input?
>>3888010
>only coaxial
I was gonna say you could sell it to a melee player but now its fuckin worthless
>>3888010
They wont want that since their n64 uses red yellow white not coax
>>3888013
Yeah I'm willing to just give it away, which I would have done a while ago if charities still took CRTs anymore.
>>3888015
The were RF adaptors for the N64. I used one a solid 15 years before I switched to composite.

Why Edgar, you haven't graced us with one of your super-concentrated doses of autism in DAYS!
>>3888010
Don't trust these twerps. They don't have the sellers's gene in them so they post only what they imagine they could sell it for. In all of their inferior grunting they lack the imagination to upsell heaps of garbage. Sell it for 97 dollars. Meet them in a coffee shop which is most inconvenient to them. Sell it bundled with cords, including loose red yellow whites to give th impression that they'll be of Amy use. Make haste in your presentation. Be an insufferable personality. Chatty, odd facial tics, an oblivious tendency to spurt into the sort of long winded ramble that makes others want to avoid prolonged contact. Take the money and run. They won't come back in contact with you. They worry about starting a conflict with somebody as socially perturbed as you. Too much hassle. Congrats. You've got yourself 97 dollars.

Just set it out by the road if no one takes the ad.
>buy NES and games
>realize I don't have CRT

>find perfect condition Samsung CRT TV with built-in VCR that's perfect for my dresser across from my bed
>watch 80s movies and play classic Nintendo games all in the comfiness of my bed

Write what you know.
Are old TVs really that uncommon in the US? Here in the third world theres still thousands of them.
>>3888217
No. They're everywhere here too.
>>3888217
maybe if you live in a rich area where everyone got rid of them 15 years ago
I still see them all the time

Got it. Your tale is below room temperature and you are a male sibling of mine.
I have a 20" PVM I got a year or 2 ago, SCART hook up wires and all, that makes that awful noise.
Packed it up and put it away in storage. Waiting for my ears to get worse so I wont notice the noise anymore then I will bring it back.
I noticed that drinking caffeine or coming home from a long day I would not notice the noise as much.
I am 29 so I don't have that much time to wait I hope....
>Still have old CRT from childhood
>It doesn't actually have anywhere to plug in cables so always need to keep a VCR handy to plug into the tv and the console into the VCR
>>3887946
This is false, I worked at Goodwill for awhile testing electronics as they came in. We got a shit load of crts that worked perfectly fine, if anything the display would be discolored more often than anything else.
Your problem is you used Craigslist.

>what is presbycusis
I just wish I couldn't hear the whining from my wife!
When i moved into my house there was a 27 inch Sansui on the front porch, I brought it inside after a year and it works fine aside from the speakers which probably got wet. It does S video too, I use it for multiplayer. Meme monitors arent expensive if you find a lucky PVM or go with practically any other Japanese brand RGB input studio monitor, JVCs Panasonics etc sell for like 150-200 less than a PVM of the same size, nothing can really top Sony's A/V quality at their height at a consumer level but a lot of quality shit was made back then.
Just be patient and don't be stupid and you'll get what you need eventually.
>>3890220
That's nice but in 2017 many Goodwill chains have stopped taking televisions because of the huge amount that just ate shelf space.
