Other than that, there is little unique about CTR. The slide = boost is pulled straight from MK64's mini turbo boost.

It's not inconsequential at all. Being able to jump is a major part of the game, it grants you more speed (and there are countless bumps in every course) and allows you to reach shortcuts.
The boost mechanic in CTR is a massive leap over the regular "hold down to do a singular boost". It grants you the ability to do up to three boosts whilst sliding so long as you don't go in the red. This adds a lot of risk and reward to the game: choosing whether to play it safe and just do 1 boost, having the skill to use all 3 boosts and stay under control etc. To call it "pulled straight from MK64" is a complete lie.

So, was the alien playable or was it a oax ?

The only thing I NEVER achieved in this game was beating the alien's ghost in every single time attack course. Only beat like half. So I never found out if it was an oax.

Jumping is not used frequently in MK64 like it is in Crash, you only use it to get to the minute amount of shortcuts inadvertently in the game, whereas in Crash you use it all the time.

Seriously, the fact that I have to explain this to me leads me to believe that you have never played CTR in your life.

I love the game but it's just too easy.

One thing that bothered me was brio was not in the game. A major character in the first games and he's nowhere to be seen. Would've been much better than komodo joe or penta

how did it compare?

It's far more engaging than Mario kart. I cant say it's more fun, but the power slide changes everything, even the multi player.
The tracks aren't as varied as on mk,another bad point. They're good, based on places from the other games, but mk wins with the likes of star road,bowsers castle, yoshi highway and dk mountain.

The jumping and powerslide make it technically much better than mk,but overall it's a toss up as to which is better.

All the retro kart racing games were great. Your favorite cartoonish racing game was the one you owned as a child. I owned Super Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing so those are my favorites.
