2nd Squad is legitimate kusoge though. At least Metal Slug held out until game #4 before taking a nosedive in quality, and even then it wasn't as bad as 2nd Squad was.

Contra, the experience is tighter has more platforming elements, Slug is mostly just shootan and ocassionally jumping.
Contra is EXXXTREME, Slug is more comfy.
Different kind of games really, depending on your mood.
Since Slug is more slow-paced, it's better for co-op, Contra can be played in co-op but it's harder if both players aren't in the same skill level.
