The android/ios remake of Secret of Mana fixes the companion AI and the game is way better for it.

Personally as it was in the SNES it wasn't even hard, just needlessly frustrating since 80% of playtime probably comes from switching between characters to get them out of dead end corners since they seem to have no pathfinding skills.

It's a shame really. Of course many of these (early) mobile games were trash but some of them were cool and now they are lost forever and nobody will be able to emulate them.

Rise of Mana suffers from a similar fate, although there is some sort of offline version and the game wasn't also very good.

I sometimes wonder why Seiken Densetsu is left to rot now or why the series even had to suffer through all these mediocre sequels and spin-offs. It really lacks director that cares.
