What does /vr/ think of croc 1 and 2? I really liked the first one, it was pretty difficult as a kid. I thought the sequel was okay.

Both were decent platformers for the time, better than Crash and the collectathons from Rare, for sure.

I see a lot of people on /vr/ bitch about the camera and "tank controls", it worked perfect on the PC. They must have played the playstation or saturn version.
brilliant game, shame that 3 never got anywhere pat early rough ideas

the controls were changed in 2
Always been curious about this. Best version to play today? Any hope of getting PC working ?
Tank controls were a mistake.

There were no tank controls in the PC version.
Always loved Croc 1, never had any issues with the controls but I got a PS1 with Dualshock right off the bat - using the original controller is less than ideal. The key to getting good is using all of the buttons, L1 and R1 to drift and sidestep, O to u-turn, etc. It's not quite Mario 64 but the controls are perfectly intuitive once you get to grips with them.
Croc 2 was more of a take on Banjo Kazooie than Mario and was pretty good but a bit too 'comfy' for its own good, instead of kicking off with an entire species being captured and imprisoned the big concern is the Gobbo King's half eaten sandwich or some shit. They also took out the aforementioned abilities so it actually controls worse. It's heavy on dialogue too, which while charming enough makes the game take a hell of a lot longer. The minecart levels are pretty fun though!
croc 1 has good music, good graphics but tank controls as a challange is a good game, panic in peter's lair plataform.
croc 2 is easier ant not as magic as croc 1
