It is now officially okay to play your 16 bit games on an HD screen. Congratulations!
>>
>>3861907
but thats not an HD screen anon.
>>
>>3861907
Pic not related
>>
>>3861910
i meant not 1080p hd.
>>
>>3861907
BUT not 8 bit and 32 bit, remember.
>>
>>3861910
Maybe a HD CRT?
>>
>>3861931
>Maybe a HD CRT?
The front clearly says it's a projection TV, kiddo.
>>
>>3861907
It's never been okay, just something people with big tvs did anyway. You can clearly see in the picture just how washed out and dull SMW looks.
>>
>>3861907
Just because it's a Japanese guy playing on pro a/v hardware doesn't mean it's authoritative
>>3861910
It's clearly an HD projector
>>3861924
Probably 1024 lines if I were to hazard a guess
>>3861973
These type of rear projection TVs use three CRTs
>>
>>3862006
This is in-house Nintendo. That's what makes it okay, anon.
>>
>>3862018
I see nothing to indicate that.

>rear projection displays

Worst display.
It's like playing on a giant pre-PSP handheld screen.
>>
>>3862101
Rear projection screens feel like looking at a big Game Gear screen. So bad.
>>
>>3861907
I think you mean Conglaturation!

That's because you didn't bother to look further.

Anyway, it's not a HDTV people.
>>
>>3862115
I actually really like game gears blurry screen. makes the games look faster.
>>
>>3862128
IT say "HD" right of the front ya dingus. What do you think HD stands for?
>>
>>3862128
>>3862143
It also says MULTI SCAN so maybe it supports SD games better than modern HD TVs that are HD only

1992's idea of 'High Definition' is not the same as on contemporary TVs.

>It is now officially okay to be retarded on the internet
First day?
>>
>Brother bought a house and it came with a projection TV
>He invites us over to show off his fancy big screen
>Try not to barf at the horrible colors, viewing angles, and visible interlacing
>>
>>3861907
I really don't care how you play your games so long as you're not some dipshit trying to show off your mamecab that has a LCD TV and everything stretched out to 16:9.
>>
>>3862128
I looked pretty far.

I suspect whoever translated at Getty erroneously capitalized the G in "games" - or just capitalized every word. Someone with a real grasp of Chinese might pick up more from 图为1992年4月,日本,一名玩家用大屏幕玩 but "Nintendo Games" seems like an odd way to say it.
>>
>>3861907
Disgusting.
>>
>>3861907
>tfw rear projection TVs influenced me to stay away from widescreen displays for gaming because of input delay from hell
>to this day I play all vidya with a CRT including PC
>>
>>3862143
1992 HD != 2017 HD.
>>
>>3861907
I wonder if this stupid faggot knows he's playing the game he made in the wrong aspect ratio. The item box is supposed to be a square.
>>
>>3862128
>Anyway, it's not a HDTV people.

If it's a 1992 HD set from Japan, then I'm going to guess that it is one of those hi-vision MUSE sets; an analog standard at around 1035 lines interlaced (but only something like 1000 pixels horizontal).

So it was a "HDTV", just not the same kind of HDTV we can get today.

图为 mean picture. Referring to the picture you're looking at. 大屏幕 refers to the display and means big screen. Not necessarily wide screen, just big. So nothing to glean from that.

The key is the term multi scan. This means it handled more than SD or it would have been called multi system. That could mean it's just ED but the aspect ratio is another giveaway. No one is going to make something like that, with associated price tag, in the early 90's and not do HD. Even if it was some weird jap flavor it was almost certainly some sort of HD.
>>
>>3862213
Topkek
>>
>>3861907
"officially" Yeah, no. The only authority on playing SD games on HD screens is reality itself.
>>
>>3863850
Excuse me?
>>
>>3864028
Yes, sir.
>>
>>3863850

Yes, exactly. And what does reality itself say about play retro SD games on modern HD screens? The same thing it says about everything else.

>do whatever you want, there is no inherent meaning to your existence and your choice of video game monitor is trivial in terms of your continued safety and well-being as a biological organism

Okay great, thanks reality. Appears to be that, much like everyone else, reality doesn't give two flaming fucks about what kind of tv you plug your SNES into.
>>
>>3864063
But anon, you gotta get the online credibility from anonymous assholes on the internet! Otherwise you can't enjoy your hobby correctly! I mean, it's not like it's all about enjoying retro games and discussing topics about them on this board.
>>
>>3864127
This guy gets it
>>
>>3864063
>>3864127

While I agree about not giving a single fuck about how others play their games, most of the times the people who care about this sort of stuff are the ones who emulate and play on HD screens.
They get triggered by people playing on CRTs and they start shitposting about "fucking old TVs take a lot of space", then CRT and real hardwarefags start making fun of them for playing games at incorrect resolutions, etc, and the game goes on.
>>
>>3864293
CRT looks like absolute trash. It looked like garbage in the 90s and it looks like garbage now.

>>3864294
I bet you play your games at incorrect resolutions, etc!
>>
>>3864294
all that matters is that the interface is scaled correctly and mechanics are tight when playing on a CRT. you wouldn't understand though.
>>
>>3864294
Thanks for proving my point, anon.
>>
>>3864294
Its needed for n64...
And ideal for all nintendos up to and including wii
Nice bait though
>>
>>3864293
>shitposting
Exactly. No one really cares what sick depraved things people want to do in the privacy if their own home. But when they come here and sperg out it they shit the place up.
Reporting them does nothing and ignoring them just makes it worse. The only thing you can do is to tell them to STFU and hope the shock of hearing that everyone doesn't think they're a special little snowflake causes them to go away and cry on /r9k/ for a while.
