Which platform games are worth playing after finishing all the classic ones? All systems as well as platforming sub-genres (Puzzle platformers, Run n' Guns etc) are OK for me. The games that were popular in their heyday but got overshadowed by their sequels or other similar titles are also fine.
Journey to Silius
Taromaru on Saturn.
Game is stupid expensive, but a CD-R is not.

looks pretty good. Is it playable for someone who can't read Japanese?

I'm not saying that plok is "good" but if it might be an interesting challenge for an old hand such as yourself. That or Metal Storm.

Cocoron is often hyped on /vr/ though.
Some of my picks:
Golden Axe 3—low key best GA
Mighty Final Fight—low key best FF (inb4 "HAHA 2 enemies onscreen nintendont pls")
Crysis Force—excellent SHMUP on NES
Cybernator/Assault Suits Valken—great mecha action on SNES

Yeah completely playable, it's a platformer/action game, think a mix of Shinobi, Castlevania and Gunstar Heroes
Moon Crystal is a really good platformer for the Famicom that many people don't know about.
Really cool anime style cut scenes and Prince of Persia style movement.
I played a lot of Conquest of the Crystal Palace for NES... Totally Rad was cool, too.

Good game but the bosses are the epitome of "whack 'em to death before they whack you to death" strategy.
>>3853792
It does not have Prince of Persia style movement. Maybe animation, but not movement.
>>3853887
that's the casual pleb strategy. all the bosses have quick kill strats you can do, that are only possible when you're down to one piece of energy
The problem with platformers is that the best ones are also the most well known. Especially on 16 bit systems.
I would strongly recommend re-playing one of the classics, instead of seeking out mediocre deep cuts like Plok and Ardy Lightfoot. Or worse.

The first Gex is one of the better Western 2D platformers out there yet people only talk about its 3D sequels.

fun, tight gameplay and awesome graphics and music
I'm going with Little Samson and Front Mission: Gun Hazard.

Don't know much about Plok but Ardy's alright.
Mr. Nutz for the snes. Great graphics/art, music, challenge, and plenty of secret areas.

a beauty
Don Doko Don 2

I feel like all of Natsume's 8-bit platformers need more love.
>>3858783
Their Jetsons game on the NES is like the long-lost third Chip & Dale game.

I'm not a huge platformer fan, but I quite liked both Halloween Harry and Microman.

Isn't this more of a beat'em up?
>>3854874
Hell, most of Disney's PS1 games count. Tarzan, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life were fun as hell.
>>3862093
the booziest of beat'em ups!
Super Back to the Future II. It's a "love or hate" game, though:

This game's physics make Bubsy look good.

I like the art style
>Pic related has a widescreen mode

Doki Doki Panic!

Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness is also great but it's more of a puzzle game.
