Why was the SNES port of Alien 3 so superior to all other versions?

Is it better than the Master System version? Never played it on SNES.

All other versions were a pretty simple race against the clock to find all captured prisoners on a level-by-level basis.
On SNES each level has numerous missions which can be tackled in any order and involve rescuing prisoners, fixing machinery and destroying alien eggs.
The SNES version has a better control system including aiming, more atmospheric music, and better level design.

Also SNES has a greater number of alien varients.
Say what you want, but my favorite is still the Game Boy Color game.

That Master System Alien3 was the ultimate "cheap hit" game. I think the Genesis version was nearly identical.

Only the Genesis version has the god-like Matt Furniss Soundtrack

Only problem is you do the same shit over and over with the same gear

It IS the same game, only with better graphics, a FM synth revamp of the music and actually distinguishable chestbursters when you fail to rescue the prisoners
