A favorite genre of mine but I'm scratching my head trying to find retro titles that fit the bill. What are your favorites? Proto-TD games, TD-related games, etc. are all fine by me

I used to play this shit out of Rampart on PC in 92-93
Only saw it in the arcade once
Kongregate used to have a ton of free to play tower defense games but I haven't visited there in years

Best tower defense games are the original Warcraft 3 Mods but not retro yet.

I liked Immortal Defense best myself, but Defense Grid is definitely good
