Also, how are the two carts 400 in 1 and 500 in 1? I was looking through the 400 in 1 reviews and it seems mostly shit tier pirate/chinese knock offs.

The list on the 500 in 1 looks better but it's seems to be missing mega man games amongst a few others. Do you have a recommendation for famicom multicarts?
>>
>>3839553
Why wouldn't you get a real famicom? A multicart is one thing, but why skimp on the system itself?
>>
>>3839558
Get the 150 in 1 and 154 in 1 carts. That should get you most of the must play NES games plus some famicom exclusive titles.
>>
>>3839621
mostly cause it's cheap, but I also like the controllers better. It's detachable, and the cord comes out the top. It's also turbo fire.
>>
>>3839553
They are fine,my neighbor had just like that one when we were growing up.
Adventure Island
Tank 1990
Magic Jewelry
Bomberman
Tengen Tetris
Aladin

All good games
>>
>>3839558
>>3839626
I'm looking for one with guardian legend in it. Can't find anything for the life of me. I guess it wasn't super popular?
>>
This is my favourite of the multicarts that I've seen. Has most of what a person would want in it. The bigger ones (400-500) tend to be filled with Chinese games.

If you want detachable cords get an AV Famicom.
These clones might be cheap but there's definitely a reason for that.
That cheap NOAC will have trouble with later, more advanced games for sure.
>>
>>3839756
Yeah I'll probably end up getting the famicom cart of this plus a few other ones.

Does anyone know decent place to get single game carts for the famicom? I've given up on trying to find a multicart with castlevania 3 and guardian legend in it.
>>
>>3839757
You think so? A lot of them seem to come with Flintstones 2 and wasn't that one of the last games for the nes?
>>
I was looking at the Zoga myself:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NES-101-Clone-Console-Free-The-Best-Games-of-NES-Game-Cartridge/32736574721.html
>>
>>3840861
The issues are real, but largely overblown. Castlevania III is the big game people cite typically having issues on clones, but the vast majority of games work well. All that said, you can get a Yobo FC Game Console on Amazon for less than what any of the clones cost on AliExpress. The ones sold in the US typically have real NES controller ports, and take NES games (can do Famicom stuff with an adapter). Worth it for the controller options, imo. Not to mention the Yobos are pretty decent, they're kind of my go-to for Famiclones.
>>
>>3840881
Those are cool looking, but they are way, way too expensive. $50 for a $20 NOAC in a cool shell is ridiculous.
>>
>>3840881
Its a bit pricier than the famicom but I guess you can play both nes and famicom games on it. It's easier to find single nes game carts too so it might be the better purchase.
>>
>>3840902
>>3840904
Without the multicart they're around $30.
>>
>>3840898
Huh. I didn't know about yobo. What are the issues that people have with castlevania? Would those carry over to the yobo as well?
>>
>>3840915
Yeah, basically all NOAC Famiclones (essentially all modern clones) have some pins wired wrong or some shit and a handful of MMC3 games struggle, so yeah the Yobo will be the same. They're basically all the same machine in different shells.
>>3840912
Yobos and Retron 1s are about $25 on Amazon, I'm just saying it's an option if you want NES controller support and a 72-oin connector instead.
>>3840904
All NES/FC clones can play NES and Famicom games, you just need a $10 adapter in whichever direction your machine requires. The ZOGA is cool, but you're really paying for the case, the guts won't be any better or worse than any other clone for half the price.

Sorry I could ramble forever about Famicoms and Famiclones.
>>
>>3840936
Please do! It's interesting to learn about this.

Do you know what MMC3 games they struggle with? Besides castlevania.
>>
>>3840948
The only one I've actually run into issues with (I don't own CVIII on cart) is Tengen's Gauntlet. It plays, but you can just walk through all the walls. According to the bootleg games wiki, 'CVIII, Gauntlet and Mindscape games' all have issues. The last clone I had was a Gamerz Tek one, and it worked with my EverDrive. It had an annoying audio buzz so I returned it, though. Most clones will work with the EverDrive, but the save-state functions won't work, for what it's worth.

Basically any chinese bootlegs you get are tailor-made for clone consoles, so all the games will work. I have the 'Resident Evil Sticker' 400-in-1, which is solid, about 100 'China original' shit games, but it has almost all the launch-era Famicom and NES games, as well as some others that are great. The best one I have is a red 150-in-1 that has all the Mega Man games, Mighty Final Fight, RECCA, all the TMNT games, it's fucking rad and was like $6. Despite having an EverDrive, sometimes it's fun to just plug in a bootleg with a handful of great games on it and go to town.
>>
>>3840986
>>3840948
Oh and it's worth noting the the sound on all Famiclones is meh. It's definitely good enough, but if you play side by side with a real FC/NES, you'll hear it, it's just not quite right. Everything is in tune, the notes are correct, but the timbres aren't 1:1 with the real hardware. I'm an audio snob and it's still passable in my opinion, but some people get super autistic about it.
>>
>>3840986
For the everdrive on clones, how are they? Do they work okay?
>>
>>3840859
Doesn't Aliexpress have those games? You could also get an adapter that would let you play NES games on it.
>>
>>3841049
They have the single carts, I was trying to find one in a multicart.
>>
>>3841042
Yeah, it worked pretty well when I tested it. I had some audio buzzing when a black screen was displayed and on the menu, but the EverDrive played great minus the save-states not working. Krikkz says those won't work on clones, so it was expected. The ED draws way more power than a standard game, so using a compatible PSU on the clone with a higher mA rating would probably have solved the audio buzzing, desu.
>>
>>3841110
Do you know if battery saves work on it?
>>
>>3841161
On the EverDrive? Absolutely, they save to the SD card.
>>
>>3841346
He means on Famiclones. I guess everdrives pull extra amps when saving and can brown them out.

>>3841161
Regular games with battery saves save fine on my famiclones
>>
>>3841457
Yah that's what I meant. Man, all this shit is so confusing. So if I get something like the yobo there are some games that I can't play on it, from what I understand it seems like some MMC5 games? But if I get an everdrive I might be able to play on it? Now you're telling me that everdrives might kaput the system if I use it.

Is it the best option to just get an official console and get an everdrive for that? I just wanna play games on my tv without an emulator :(
>>
>>3841626
No, MMC5 will most likely not work regardless and I'm also pretty sure that flash carts don't work on most clones at all anyways.
Yes your best option is definitely to just go ahead and get a real one.
My recommendation would be an AV Famicom (In my opinion the best revision of the NES/Famicom ever made) + a famicom format everdrive
>>
>>3841636
Fuck. Guess I gotta bust some dosh for a decent one. Man.. They're all like $100 bucks.

I don't even care about the save state features. Shit blows hard.
>>
>>3841661
I know it might be a bit steep but it's honestly the best one you can get.
The normal NES frontloader sucks because of the 72 pin connector which is unreliable even if you treat it well + it's really annoying to get the adapter out again if you want to play famicom games on it with an adapter.
The Toploader NES is pretty good but it needs to be modded else it only provides RF. The toploader is pretty pricey as well so that isn't really a budget choice anyways.
The original Famicom only provides RF as well but if modded for AV or RGB is also a good choice (though modding once again adds cost).
The AV Famicom has a reliable top loading port and already comes with composite capabilities to begin with. Perfect in my opinion.
There's also the Twin Famicom which is basically like an AV Famicom with a Disk System preinstalled which is also a valid choice but that one will prolly run you even more.

To be honest if had to choose i'd rather take emulation than those cheap NOACs. You'll definitely have less problems and incompatibilities with emulation that with one of those mass produced china clones nowadays.
>>
>>3841678
AV Famicom it is then.

I know, and I installed retroarch onto an old laptop but it doesn't feel right. Idk, I guess I just miss having a nes/famicom [I used to have a famiclone] from my childhood.
>>
>>3841691
I wouldn't immediately jump on one.
I myself got one for 70€ shipped from Japan with 2 games and all the cables earlier in 2016.
You should probably wait until a decent one pops up on the bay.
All the offers up on there seem to be a bit steep right now.
>>
>>3839553
I badly want these
>>
>>3841752
It's like $25 for all things pictured on aliexpress
>>
>>3841752
Are you a masochist?
>>
>>3841678
http://powerfamicom.tumblr.com/post/57951627765/compatible-famiclones-with-everdrive-n8

I found this site that has a list of working everdrives with famiclones. The D99 in the OP picture seems to work with it?
>>
>>3841691
This guy >>3841636 is right, Famiclones are a fun novelty, but I use my AV Famicom when it's time to do things for real. It's literally the most perfect version of the NES/FC. Worth the price, they aren't rare, just in high demand. Nintendo made that model in Japan until like 2003.
>>
>>3841784
This.

There's a huge difference between spending $25 on aliexpress for a cool looking Famiclone and a couple fat multicarts vs spending $250 on an AV famiclone and an N8 Everdrive. Both are valid things to do and if you're not sure you want to invest all that money there's nothing wrong with doing the cheap route you'll still have tons (well over $25 worth) of fun and if you end up wanting a more authentic and complete experience enough later to drop 10x as much money the famiclone stuff can still be something that goes on a spare TV or in your bag to take to parties or just given as a gift.

>>3842227
Why is there a crab on the board?
>>
>>3842256
better watch out
>>
>>3842256

Specially trained.
Comes with every kit, he is the most important part working tiny switches that make the data flow in the way the game is created.
>>
>>3842256
Everything in China that costs $25 or less has crabs
>>
>>3842256
It's the thank you crab. They give it as a way of saying thanks. It's a Chinese custom.
>>
>>3840993
The sound is the #1 reason I would never pay for a clone
>>
>>3841661
If you can do an AV mod on an original fami or get a friend to do it for you, that's the cheapest way. You also get the p2 mic.
>>
>>3843441
Eh, they're so insanely cheap that I find it tolerable for 90% of games. That said, I don't own any clones at the moment.
>>3843443
This is the smarter move, original Famis are like $30 or less if you shop around, and they basically never break. I've owned like 10, and the only one with issues was a bad Player II controller, which I just removed and now it's a fine single player/beater machine. If you're not up for an AV mod, they work fine over RF on channel 95 in the US, I use a VCR or a cable-ready CRT to use my original Famicoms.
>>
>>3839553
love the famicom!
>>
>>3839553
I have one. Been using it for 3 months. The console itself is fine but the AC adapter sounds dangerouw, it does this constant buzz noise and is hot really quickly. The multicart is decent but games from 300 to 400 are the same as the 100-200 firsts. I play ff3 famicom on it and works ok.
>>
>>3848204
>>3840898
I really want to buy the bootleg Famicom in OP's post. But, I am an American, and our TV standard is NTSC, while the ones on AliExpress are all PAL (because China is a PAL territory). However, some people have posted that with today's modern HDTVs it doesn't matter. Apparently, they convert the signal on the automatically. Is this true? I don't want to spend money on a system that I can't play. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
>>
I don't wanna shit on how other people play fames, but what exactly is the appeal of a clone console with a multi cart over a emulation box loaded with roms?
>>
>>3850264
Regardless of whether the system is supported on a modern TV it will be be basically unplayable on an HDTV. My HDTV doesn't even support 240p over composite, even if I wanted a ton of input lag and terrible video quality. If you want an NTSC clone, just get a Yobo or a Retrobit on Amazon for $15-25.
>>3850285
Hardware clone vs. Software emulation
They both have their pros and cons, mostly people who use clones just like real hardware even if it's an approximation of the hardware it's cloning. It's a way to use your real carts and controllers while saving wear and tear on your authentic hardware, it could be a second rig, or something you can throw in a bag without worrying about. There's a number of reasons one might want a clone; they're kind of fun at any rate.
>>
>>3850548
Thanks for the response. But, what if my Samsung HDTV has a "Game Mode?" Does that help in any way?
>>
>>3850548
>>3852440
Get a TV with a better panel.
I have Alpha IPS and cuts response time to 8ms instead of your regular 30 to 60ms.
>>
>>3852440
It will 'help' and Samsungs tend to support 240p for whatever reason, but HDTV + composite game = awful.
>>3852461
8ms is half a frame of lag, there's no way you're actually getting them from your TVs upscaler. A framemeister gets about 1 frame on a good TV/monitor
>>
>>3852682
im not upscailing.
nvm
