I'm on my first playthrough of Zelda 1 and the monsters you have to hit from the side and back suck major dick. Their immunity to the boomerang makes it a major pain in the ass.

I have had this game since it came out over 20 years ago, have probably played through at least 25 times and I still have no idea.
