GOG when?
>>3830076
>I can finally play Turok 2 above 20FPS without dealing with the old PC port.
Gonna be a great day when it releases.
FUCKING FINALLY HOLY SHIT
I will not be playing anything else for a while when this comes out. Hype as fuck.
> Split-screen mode is also available in network multiplayer
what the fuck
>>3830226
Awesome, T2's multiplayer was fun
Hey, gamesradar did an interview with David Dienstbier about the first Turok game.
It's on twitch:
/videos/125480737
video got everything wrong
it's not completely remastered, it's the same fucking graphics with bloom
there's no new worlds to explore, it's going to be the exact same levels as the old game
>the dinosaur hunter returns
it's not even the same guy as in Turok 1
>>3830086
>>I can finally play Turok 2 above 20FPS without dealing with the old PC port.
Turok2.exe -MaxFramerate 60
>>3830076
I'll buy it just because I don't want to have to fuck with a glide wrapper. The original port plays nice as fuck aside from that.
>>3832661
>install nglide
>start game, go to options - video
>set driver to glide
sure was a lot of effort
Turok 2 remaster looks way nicer than Turok
>>3832646
>it's the same fucking game
Its not, it's running on the KEX engine, same as DOOM64X
Turok games are pure shit. Why would anyone play this steaming pile of garbage when just the other day the final version of Back To Saturn X Ep. 1 was released?
>>3830076
Only if it contains a remaster of its brilliant soundtrack.

>>3833416
fuck off
Played Turok 1 on Steam recently and the game holds up well with modern controls and FOV settings, it's the level design that makes it.
>>3830076
They're doing it?
>>3835636
Since at least a year or so.
>>3833158
Will it be just as fast paced though? The trailer made it seem like it wouldn't be as quick as Turok 1 remaster.
Is Turok actually good? I hear people praise it on here but it seems like a sub-par Pc game
>>3836080
it's alright
levels can get boring and feel very blocky
you have to play quite a bit before you get the really fun weapons
default fps limit (40 game/20 cutscenes) and fov (45) are horrible, but you can adjust that easily
soundtrack is good
>>3836089
reminds me of the temple section in unreal
>>3836080
Dude, the soundtrack is a god send. Really, it's awesome
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ewFnCWyXyEk
>>3833425
Dude, no remaster. The soundtrack is perfect as it is.
>>3837023
>the soundtrack is a god send
>posts the shitty canned-sounding N64 version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTgWJ8fogPQ
>>3837039
I actually prefer the n64 version, it sounds a lot more charged, but this version is good too. Darren mitchell is a great composer. I'm kinda sad he hasn't done something new.
>>3830076
Steam release?
>>3837972
No, the steam page is just an advertisement for the GOG release.
>>3839027
Which in turn is a promo for the torrent release?
>>3832646
>it's not completely remastered, it's the same fucking graphics with bloom
>there's no new worlds to explore, it's going to be the exact same levels as the old game
Some nigger doesn't know what "remastered means".
>This album says "remastered" but it doesn't have any new songs. The old songs have no new instruments in it. WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS BULLSHIT!
>>3839736
Nigger is right, new levels do not make a "remaster".
>>3839738
are you dense?
>i'm going to ignore the fact that two sentences are in different lines
>i'm going to ignore the fact that two sentences are in different lines
>i'm going to ignore the fact that two sentences are in different lines
>>3839742
Nigger if you're gonna say some dumb shit why say it at all.
>>3839736
You're confusing Remaster for Remake.
Porting the game to a new, modern engine with the original elements is often times WAY better than just remaking it. By remaking it, it's possible that the new assets don't look as good as the old ones, or the new physics don't work right, etc. Doing it this way allows you to keep the feel of the original, but giving you way more options. It's like emulation, but way better.
Proper mouse + keyboard support, 16:9, alone is worth purchase over emulation, N64 hardware, or original port. Plus you can have endless array of graphical and gameplay options that did not exist in the original. You can do things like increase or decrease fog distance for instance.
This is the PROPER way to update old games btw.
>bloom
All graphical effects can be turned on or off.
There's no way they're making much money off these games. Sales are too poor.
It's nice to have though.
>>3836080
The presentation is amazing and the soundtrack kicks ass. It's just a really epic and creative universe.
The gameplay is a bit rough around the edges, but hopefully the remaster will rectify most of that.
Will this ever get a remastered release?
>>3840074
Most people complain that $20 is too much
>>3840083
They did say they were interested in bringing in all Turok games to steam.
>>3840140
Even the Game Boy games?
>>3840173
Not him but I think you care just a little bit too much man.
>>3840173
That's some heavy-duty autism you got there son
FUCK YES! Now it must only come to GOG and I am game.
>>3840173
>six new worlds to explore
Six worlds that weren't in Turok 1. It's still a sequel, they don't have to make every advertising point about the fact that it's a re-release of an old game.
Since this was deleted, I'm re-posting.
>Point 1: re-release doesn't equal remaster.
But it's no mere re-release. It's porting the game to an entirely NEW engine. For gaming, this is as close to the meaning of a remaster as there is. Remastering in audio/video means going back to the originals and producing new master. That analogy doesn't entirely work for gaming. But the idea of going back to the original assets, ripping them, and poring them to a new, more flexible modern engine, and giving them more effects seems pretty close to "remastering".
I would much, much prefer if this approach was done for other games. It allows for enhancements, while remaining true to the original product. It's like emulation, but way better. Often companies just opt to remake the whole thing, and it often just totally loses its charm since they can't re-create the magic. Or alternatively, they just throw the old game in an emulator and then call that a re-release.
>Point 2: Same levels
They meant new relative to Turok 1.
>different dude
This could just be either a minor oversight by the Publisher, who might not be fully versed in Turok lore. Or it could just be meaning that a person with the title "Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter" is returning.
>>3830076
Maybe I'll finally be able to enjoy the game, since I never had it on the older consoles and trying to run it on modern hardware sucks dick.
>>3830076
turok 2 without a sub-70 FOV, and tge framerste wont chug when more than 1 enemy is on screen?
Ok.
Can they fix the fucking map and let us skip cutscenes?
>>3840528
Fucking this all the way. You fags wouldnt know a good thing if it jumped up and sucked your dick
>>3841562
>Can they fix the fucking map
What do you mean by that?
The map overlay or the actual levels?
>>3830076
Fucking yes. I finally get to shoot the shredder again. It has been so long.
>>3840089
I felt $20 was too much for Turok, $20 seems reasonable for Turok 2 though, but if the rumor of $30 is true, day one pirate and wait for the $4.99 sale.
>>3843084
At least you weren't around when the first Turok game went up to 120 bucks a few months after it came out.
>>3843190
Christ. Nostalgia fags ruin everything.
>>3843226
No anon, when I said a few months after it came out I meant back in 1997.
>>3843364
Well, the game came out and was an instant hit.
You'd be lucky if you could even find a copy on blockbuster.
I'd just like to point out that the cerebral bore is hands down the most bad ass video game weapon period
god damn those sounds gave me a hardon as a kid
Wish more of these games got a "rebuild old assets in a new engine" treatment.
Sonic 1-2 + CD got taht for mobile. Why should that matter for a 2D game? It means proper wide-screen support. That's a really cool feature.
>>3840074
Oh wow that is all who bought it? That is a very low number although I guess it is an old game that already got most of its sales back then before the remaster.
>>3843367
Really? I remember N64 games could be pretty expensive but I don't ever remember them being that expensive. When I got Turok it must have been at release if what you say is true.
>>3844748
Turok 2 was a normal priced game in europe.
What may have happened is it sold out and some stores spiked their prices. Nintendo tries to prevent this type of practice.
>>3840074
What is this steam daemon?
>>3830076
Now we just need Turok 3 (fuck you I liked it) Rage Wars and the Timesplitters series up on Steam and all will be right in the world.
>>3832646
>there's no new worlds to explore, it's going to be the exact same levels as the old game
It's comparing Turok 2 to Turok 1, numbnuts.
>it's not even the same guy as in Turok 1
Turok is a title and while you['re playing as a new character, he is still Turok, the Dinosaur Hunter.
>>3832646
wew lad
No steamos or Linux support it seems
>Blind playthrough years ago on 64
>Really challenging
>Feeling of accomplishment for beating a level
>Get to space ship level with the praying mantis enemies
>Save file corrupts
>No desire to go through all that shit again dealing with garbage frame rate.
Finally I'll get a proper playthrough of this gem
>>3830076
Is the N64 turok the best
>>3844852
turok 3 is the best game in the entire series. Don't even pretend its disliked, the only reasons to dislike it are the poor performance which is a major flaw, but otherwise it's the absolute best in the series.
>>3832646
>low console fov, og port breaks if you set it above 70 (sky flickers, fov fucks up graphics as you climb ladders.
remaster fixes this
>pc music is shit compared to n64 synth
remaster has n64 AND pc music, can toggle between them
>gamespy is dead
remaster fixes multiplayer
remaster makes the fucking game work without 4000 hacks/fixes/mods
>OG pc release game hates cpu with more than 1 core.
remaster stops frame stuttering
Enjoy your 4:3 busted to fuck original port.
>>3846343
While I don't think T3 is the best, I do feel it has its own unique charm that the other Turok games do not have, the technical issues do make it seem fairly underwhelming.
>mouse and kb
>no fog wall 5 feet in front of you
>More than 20fps
Hate to say it but I feel this version is gonna be way too easy
>>3847938
Turok 1 remaster is much harder than the original.
>>3847954
How so?
>>3847956
AI was tweaked to be more aggressive and would attack you from a father distance since the fog wasn't there.
>>3847956
It got to the point where people were complaining that hard was too hard and hardcore impossible.
New interview with ND Studio.

>releasing March 14th
That's 2 days earlier than planned. Awesome.
>>3851830
Oh well, it's only 2 days.
>>3847954
Wut?
>>3851352
Looks awesome as hell.
>Those bitter fags bitching about this in the steam forums
>My way of playing is better than your way
Nostalgia fags really do ruin everything, sad!
>>3851886
>My way of playing is better than your way
What are they saying?
>>3832646
You are confusing remaster with remake.
>>3832646
Shows frame rate means a lot more than graphics.
>>3851352
>CEO of Night Dive Studios
They're just a publisher. They didn't do anything other than pay the guy who developed it. The guy behind it Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal.
>>3852142
Speaking of Kaiser, is there any chance of an official release of Doom 64 Ex or Powerslave EX? I imagine both are in rights hell.
>>3852152
Doom 64 EX I don't think is possible.
>>3840074
51,084 x 20 = 1,021,680, minus the 30% cut Valve gets (is it 30%? can't remember) is 715,176
I'd say that's a modest success, I doubt they had a whole bunch of people working on it.
>>3852189
Williams is gone so who knows owns that. Then part of it is ID and probably a publisher too. So it's probably a nightmare for rights.
>>3830076
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7S4S1bVAzo
i can't wait to get dissapointed
>>3854273
Why would you be disappointed?
>>3854279
because i doubt it holds up but my caveman brain is still hyped.
