Do we know anything about the satellaview? Why did a ambient new age satellite radio company make Nintendo games?
DUDE SATELLITES LMAO
Let's see what aunt Wiki has to say:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St.GIGA
"By 1994, St.GIGA's financial difficulties resulted in the cutting back of "Tide of Sound" broadcasts. Their portion of the subscription-funded audio broadcasts were to be replaced under subcontract by an all new series of advertising-funded Satellite Data broadcasts, managed under the "rescue" and executive control of Nintendo, St.GIGA's largest shareholder at 19.5%."
About the broadcasts:
>The broadcast content ranged from video-game-related Satellaview news and specific interest journals such as Game Tiger's big House (ゲーム虎の大穴 Gemu Tora no OoAna?) to expansion data for popular Super Famicom games (including, for example, Chrono Trigger) and all new video game releases including titles in such flagship series as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Kirby. Additionally, a number of these broadcasts featured an updated version of St.GIGA's earlier "Tide of Sounds" "Voice," now called "SoundLink" (サウンドリンク?), with which St.GIGA voice actors would provide a live vocal track to accompany games, setting plot and describing in-game goals.

>we
If that includes you obviously not. Many other know a shitload.
>why
They didn't
They didn't make the games they distributed them. It's a lot like Sega channel but more Nintendoughy

And there would be scheduled events with live streaming multimedia in-game.

This is actually really intresting and innovative for the 1990s. There really isn't any video games like that even now with real live event game time and streaming voice acting.

40's style live radio certainly was unique for the 90's if not entirely innovative.

St. GIGA is the best name for anything, ever.

There is a project to create an emulated version of the system in English: https://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/
It was way ahead of its time.
Nintendo always goofs by releasing these add-ons in Japan only. The FDS, Satellaview, and 64DD should have been released worldwide.
I bet that if the Nintendo/Sony partnership didn't fall apart, the PlayStation would have only been released in Japan.

FDS had no market in America and the logistics of launching a Satellaview equal in a country as large as the US aren't cost effective. Meanwhile the DD would've failed in the US despite strong support for the N64 because there were few games for it and the device itself was highly expensive.
The SNES-CD would've been a worldwide launch, though, because then Nintendo wouldn't have Sony's competition but they would be releasing many first party games on there as well as numerous licensed titles. There was a market here as well in 1993 as seen with the mild success of the Sega CD.

>>Nintendo is stressing that the channel is adult-oriented and that videogames will constitute only a small component of its airtime
Well er ... that seems interesting. Did anyone even save anything of that?
