What? Every "Recommended Sega Genesis Games" list has this game.

Anyways, Rocket Knight Adventures is still unmatched but the SNES and Genesis versions of Sparkster are pretty good too.

The SNES game is a spin-off with some elements from RKA (it even reuses Sparkster's old animations) and the Genesis version is a much harder sequel with different level design and gameplay. Both games are great, though.

That's an incredibly well known game and has been included on almost every Genesis compilation in the past decade.

This. I jumped into this game thinking it would be like Gunstar Heroes.
I kept getting killed at the first boss.

This game is not as mindless as GH. You shouldn't play it through same way. Don't run forward and shoot thinking you'll survive.

Your priorities in this game are follows...

1) Move & dodge
2) Block
3) When you have an opening, shoot

Also, the homing shot is your friend.

When I think of underrated games, I tend to think of unique games that do something you rarely saw other games do. Gain Ground had a level of tactical decision making for a twitch action game that I don't think would be matched again until the PS2 era.
