Actually happened to me, twice.
First with a 3rd party "Performance" N64 cart, then with a 4 in 1 Action Replay Saturn cart.
Eventually bought an official N64 memory pak and Saturn official memory cart and so far they're fine.
Now I use the AR cart for pseudosaturn. The 3rd party N64 one doesn't seem to work anymore.

It's just a ticking time bomb.
>>

You can use GCMM on a hacked Wii to back up the memory card and copy the data on it to an official memory card.
>>
>>3820572
I have one of those Performance n64 cards. Never once given me problems.
>>
>>3820567
Take your memetext thread back to /v/ where it belongs.
>>
>>3820572
Kind of wondering but, when you save a game on the Saturn, does it save to the Saturn first or to the Action Replay cart?
>>
>>3820572
never buy Performance brand anything, fucking hell
it's a good thing most of the N64 games I played saved (primarily) to the cart instead of the memory pak

haven't had issues with the AR cart, but there's like one game I own where saving actually matters, so I didn't really care
>>
>>3820668
it saves to the Saturn -- you need to copy the file to/from the AR
it's not treated as a save RAM cart, it's treated as a RAM expansion cart, so games that support the save RAM cart won't recognize it

Did anyone else buy a third party PS1 memory card to use on the PS2 when they were younger and then have it break because they looked at it in the browser before trying to save a game

I bought two of those fucking things and didn't have any idea why they both didn't work until like 8 years later when I was buying a new one and read on amazon what you have to do to get them to work.

>move all my files off of Pelican, Nyko and MadCatz cards to them
>didn't even think of losing the files at the time, just wanted to not have to switch cards all the time

I also have a Perfomance card. The regular, not the 4-in-1.

The only time I've lost data was when I left in on the floor of my car during a 4 hour drive.
Turns out, it uses a battery holder, rather than a tabbed and soldered battery, so the vibrations must have knocked the battery loose enough for the memory to corrupt.

Still though, it means it's simple to replace the battery, and it's fine as long as I don't drop it.

Aww man, does that mean sooner or later the battery will give out and I'll lose my data?
>>
I had one of those multi-page memory cards for ps1. It just had one led that blinked to indicate the page.

It lost my ff8 save.

Last time i used memory cards.

I need my Super Robot Wars F save to play F Final.
>>
>>3821083
Yes.
Probably going to be sooner rather than later by now.

Good news is, I'm pretty sure you can copy memory paks with 2 controllers and Mario Kart, so you could copy the card, replace the battery, and then copy the saves back.

Not retro but I only used it to play retro games so whatever
I got one of those chink micro sd adapters on my PSP, never got corrupted files but there was about a 50/50 chance a program wouldn't start
Got a 3DS now thankfully

... I really dodged a bullet right there, anons. Now it doesn't show any saves on it at all.

You know, if you still have that Chao Garden save kicking around, you can try to get it working with the Steam releases.

Turns out that the save format didn't change much so it was easy to copy and paste with a hex editor.

Just note that your chao's appearances will be fucked up until they evolve.

you just have to pull it out or switch on/off. it's very annoying though and i can't pull the damn ds card out of that thing. this thread made me swtich me back to memory stick even if it's just 4gb.
