>only had dialup into the later 2000s
>rarely got to play non-local multiplayer games
>eventually get fast enough connection to play online
>get destroyed on every game before I can even get my footing in anything
>resign quickly from online gaming as a genre

battle.net games worked well enough on dialup if you had a decent enough connection. I played lots of quake 2, delta force 2, warcraft 3, and even counter strike source on dial up. By the time TF2 came out we had rural high speed though
>>
how's the best way to play with others online nowadays?
I can't believe they patched diablo 2 to work to this day online but not this or WC3
>>
I used to play as a kid but quickly learned to just play the stupid custom games with auto spawning units and stuff. Like Risk or Gundam maps.

Mostly for skirmish games and the occasional more casual 2v2 and 3v3 - iCCup
For hardcore 0-2135 loss ratio and playing Koreans - Fish

Both are fairly competitive servers.

Not a whole lot of other options, I'm afraid. You might have some luck with UMSes if you just show up at your favourite online community and ask if someone wants to play over GameRanger.

battle.net is down now? I remember playing wc3 like 6 months ago :(

>playing starcraft for 10 years
>I show the game to some guy who doesn't even play strategy games
>after a month he beats me 4 times in a row
>never touch the game again

Some people are not meant to be good at things.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
