The first one on Dreamcast was the only one I played. Very comfy game with cool tunes and visuals.

Also this game is very cheap on Steam but I don't know how it performs.
>>
>>3807729
I beat it on Steam, it ran good. I think it is missing a song though.
>>
It was free on steam for a couple months thats when I got it, didn't actually play it for a year since its impossible to play without a controller
>>
>>3807710
Future was better anyway
>>
>does anyone play the first one
ninja is u serious?
>>
>>3807928
Says literally no one except people who don't know anything about anything.

I thought this was supposed to be /vr/
>>
>>3807928
Futures easy as shit the only thing I like more is the character designs
>>
>>3807938
anyone that talks about jet set radio automatically assumes its future ive talked to people who never even knew there was a game before it
>>
>>3807730
It's missing two songs and both of them fucking suck.
>>
>>3807952
>JSR
>famous game with many ports on modern systems
>JSRF
>exclusive for console that even no emulated
Seriously?
>>
>>3807705
It's called Jet Grind Radio actually
>>
>>3808224
No it isn't. They only changed the name because of trademark issues and the HD version is called Jet Set Radio in North America.

The sequel is too bloated and has worse level design, especially the pyramid area.

Oh, and the character redesigns are shit.

loved the first game. Currently playing through future right now, and I really don't see the appeal of it. The levels are fuckhuge with no rhythm, no timer, no graffiti controls. Exploring tokyo-to was fun in the first game, but its just a chore in future. Fuck the music isn't even half as good.
>>
>>3807705
People play the sequel?
>>
>>3810237
I'm wondering is JetSetRadio Future like super easy? Is that why everyone prefers it over the original
>>
>>3810375
Probably. Back in the day a lot of people complained about the time limit in JSR.
>>
>>3807705

I prefer the first one

>Graffiti takes time
>Better character designs
>Doesn't ever act like combat is a draw of the game

But both are fucking masterpieces
>>
>>3810375
More likely, it's the only one most people knew about.
>>
I love it.
Once I actually began to learn the level layouts and the best routes through each level to conserve my momentum, my enjoyment went from a 6/10 to a 9/10.
Also, the fact that every level gives you exactly enough tags before the second wave of cops show up so you can hit every big tag in the level is a really good trick of the design which gets overlooked. When I realised that, I was blown away.

I wish there wasn't an in-level timer. Getting killed by the cops should be punishment enough.
>>
>>3808260
Accept my dumbo Jet Set is a term. Jet Grind is not. It's just a shitty title you pointlessly pedantic fuck.
>>
>>3810660
Not really. Maybe in the past but JSR is the only one that remains in popular consciousness.
>>
>>3811913
Then the game becomes too easy and you also lose an important part of the score/ranking system.
Past the first playthrough, the police are a non-issue because you'll have a better understanding of each level and how to escape from them. Removing the time limit takes away most of the remaining challenge in trying to accomplish this as quickly as possible.
Don't wish for the game to become easier just because you're having trouble. You should wish for yourself to play better.

Here's a pro-tip: Use the map to see where the remaining tags are.
Here's another pro-tip: The police reinforcements will appear after a set amount of red tags have been hit. In every level, this number is the same as the amount of Medium/Large/Extra Large tags that will cause you to stop moving and input the combo. By going through the level and tagging every single M/L/XL tag first, when the reinforcements appear you'll only need to tag the small tags as you skate past without having to stop.
>>
>>3808006
I really liked Yappie Feet and have a lot of memories playing it on Dreamcast and liking that song.
>>

>Don't wish for the game to become easier just because you're having trouble. You should wish for yourself to play better.

this was a poetic way of saying git gud.
>>
>>3811964
Thanks, it's from my upcoming collection of poems and essays, "It's Not Bad, You're Just Shit and Other Musings."
The New Yorker described it as "Oscar Wilde for the online generation."
>>
>>3811917

Not him but I cosplay as Beat from the first game and nearly every single person who recognizes me at cons says "Hey, you're from Jet Set Radio Future, right?"
>>
>>3811992
Post your cosplay.
>>
>>3811987

I'd buy it.
>>
>>3811997

Later if I can find pictures. I'm not the kind of guy who takes pics of his own costume.

Because it was ported to every platform under the fucking sun.
>>

I played that shit for a month on my PC till I shelled out the money for a controller. It had some infuriating controls
>>
The best: art, design, absolutely patrician OST

The worst: that lame chase&paint levels

Almost perfect game

Man, that song is awesome
>>
Has anyone got a link to the full soundtrack containing the original and licensed music?
>>
>>3808006
I'm guessing one of them is the Dragula remix.

I liked it, doesn't really fit with the rest of the soundtrack though.
>>
>>3812108
Dragula is still in it. The missing songs are Yappie Feet and Many Styles.
>>
What's your favourite infinite grind spot?
Mine is Grind Square. I don't know why, I just find it really enjoyable.

kogane-cho for sure, grind squares a good one too
>>
>>3811906
I think its pretty amazing how the game can make someone become a fucking pro in their second play-through
>>
>>3812095
I don't have a link, but I have all the music.
>>
>>3812546
Exactly.
My first playthrough, it took me about twenty minutes to beat the final stage because I kept dying.
My second playthrough it was over and done in a couple of minutes.
>>
If you're not autistic, either version of the game is fine. The only people this actually matters to are people who got used to one and now refuse to accept that any other take on it is possible.
>>
>>3813186

They're two different games m8
>>
>>3813583
And don't forget that one is clearly superior.
>>
Yes I am cooking for my wife and her son. It's her 16th. Birthday.
>>
Is it a platformer or a sports game? What about Ollie King?
>>
>>3809392
True, but they took the idea from the final boss of the original JSR with the arena shit.

>>3810237
Explore better the areas and get use to them, learn how to wall jump, to grind at certain rails, do tricks and combos over and over and over.
The sewer level is fun as hell. And some basement one with stairs and rails. That hill city one with phone rails is also pretty fun, as the night city one. You can go around and around in these areas doing combos non-stop

>>3810375
People talk about Future because of its soundtrack and because of wanting a version to digital formats.

JSRF had a better gameplay and combo trick system, but took out some of the good shit from the original version. The game is easier compared to JSR, because some of the JET ranking in JSR could be annoying to get.
In short, JSR have a more arcade feeling which some enjoy more, but both games are pretty damn good and fun.
>>
I'm still waiting for Jet Set Radio Future to go on PC
>>
fagula ruined jgr
deal with it
>>
>>3815747
Neither. Both. That's why it's so great.
>>
>>3818135
just get an xbox.
>>
I've the first one several times on Dreamcast. I have been meaning to play future but have not been able to track down a copy in my local area. From game play videos I've seen of Jet Set Radio Future it looks great to me.
>>
I saw Future at Savers and didn't think anything of it since it didn't look that expensive on pricecharting should I ever decide I wanted it. Did I make a mistake?
>>
>>3821225
The price of a game doesn't indicate its quality.

And the reaosn it's not expensive is because it was included as a pack-in with the Xbox in 2002.
