He's supposed to be bold and samurai-like. Ryo is incredibly disconnected from everyone because of the death of his father. He even started to neglect his father's dying wish of being close to his loved ones.

Near the end of Shenmue 2, he slowly begins to warm up to another person. It's subtle, but his desire for revenge faded a bit after the encounter on the rooftop. Things might change though. We'll see a lot more of Ryo's actual personality in Shenmue 3.

yakuza is great but it's nowhere near as good as shenmue. in 20 years no one will remember yakuza but shenmue will still be remembered.
i personally don't understand the comparison to shenmue--it's nowhere near as detailed and kamurocho/sotenbori/whatever other few locales the game has to offer don't feel alive like hong kong or yokosuka

but OP, I don't know if Ryo is autistic or if he just comes off that way due to the terrible voice acting. If you're going to say he is autistic, then i think 90% of the humans in the game are autistic too.
