but why do people dish out 60 dollars or more a year to play the same sport game? i have a copy of madden 2005 and whenever some nongamer cousins or something come over ill play that with them. why would you need a new fifa madden mlb game every year?

A big part of the value in sports games, at least football, soccer, baseball, etc. is in the team. Players being traded between teams necessitates yearly re-release, which results in quick depreciation of the last year's model.
