Well they shouldn't expect the market to bend over for them and let them buy Earthbound and Chrono Trigger for $4 each. None of them are being made anymore, and demand increases ever further from nostalgic adults and millennial hipsters who want a shelf of games like their favorite Youtuber. Thus, prices go up. Basic economics.

For all intents and purposes a flashcart with a rom is the EXACT SAME THING as an original cart other than the label. All the zeros and ones are the same. The console will read a flash chip just as it would a mask ROM.

Plus, any system before 5th gen can be considered to have near perfect if not virtually exact cycle-correct emulation now. Don't give me that shit about input lag, you just suck at games and are using something you could never notice no matter how hard you try as an excuse. Our mind subconsciously adapts to tiny delays like that and we play exactly the same.
