Started watching The Annotated Symphony of the Night. It's pretty good.

This is the shittiest opinion I've seen.
1 is the perfect Castlevania and IV basically bastardized everything good about it. It's not a bad game, but it just doesn't compare to what Castlevania managed to do a generation before it. The game becomes much less about calculating your actions and positioning with the new whip, and it's never utilized for anything interesting aside from occasionally swinging off of shit. Level design focuses considerably less on tight platforming and enemy placement and more on "atmosphere" and gimmicks. Music is mostly atmospheric as well, with the majority of the memorable tunes being songs we've already heard before.

III and Rondo are basically in between somewhere, since they still have roots to the original, but it's debatable how well they do or expand on what Castlevania did. Personally, I enjoyed the back flip in Rondo because it's a skill that locks you into a set movement pattern and would still fit in Castlevania. Both games still have "Castlevania-y" level design and music is top notch. Dracula X is also not nearly as well put together as Rondo, and even though it looks better in some places the art direction isn't as good.

I never feel right comparing SotN since they're basically trying to be completely different games.

I hate Arin. I've never seen a single negative opinion about IV until he made his dumb video
