Can stealth game ever be this good again?

Amnesia and Outlast did first person stealth quite well.

This game definitely has god-tier missions, but fuck, you can't defend the two missions which rehash already existing maps, it sucks too much. It almost ruins the game completely for me, even though it's 2 out of 13 missions. Also Trail of Blood is out of place when compared to the other missions.

I think Thief 1 was better. Also the Splinter Cell series up to Chaos Theory is very clearly inspired by Thief and I would argue they're on par with the first two Thief games.

Come on now, I love the first three Splinter Cells (especially Chaos Theory), but they're too linear.

As long as it doesnt have the word "Metal" in its title.
No love for Alien: Isolation?

Never played that, but sounds pretty interesting.
Pickpocketing aliens and shit must be thrilling

Every time someone tells me they liked Thief 1 better, I remember those fucking zombies.

They can be even better.

>horror maps
no thanks

What's wrong with them anon? Horror levels/games make the best possible use of stealth gameplay.
Yeah infact it got better with chaos theory, thennnn got shit again.
Something about this game rubbed me the wrong way to a point that I quit playing games shortly thereafter

C'mon it's not that bad, you're talking about the city right? I'll admit the second one is kind of filler but in my opinion it's good story-wise. it leads up to the fantastic level trail of blood which is increased in atmosphere if you've played the first thief.

What about them? You could sneak past them.

but this one is called "The Metal age".
