Has anyone here ever played Street Fighter 1?
>>
Never saw the pressure-sensitive button version but I played the 6-button version

Yes. I didn't think it was very good, even for its time. I'd rather play Yie-Ar Kung Fu; even if it wasn't as pretty, at least it felt more responsive and fluid.
>>
PC Engine has good music, and imo it isn't as bad as most make it out to be.
>>
>>3778921
Just on MAME. I never saw it in arcades as a kid back in the 90s. Not even once.
>>
>>3778921
Yeah, I played it once or twice back in the arcades back then.

It was pretty mediocre (although not as bad as rivals like Street Smart) and the rounds were over after, like, three hits?

All the fighting games of this generation fell into oblivion when Street Fighter II appeared, and you really don't want to cry for them.

The arcade where I went had one Street Fighter 1 next to the all Street Fighter 2 games, to entice people to spend coins ironically.

And I fell for it
>>
>>3778921
I used to have it on ZX Spectrum.
>>
>>3778942
Were you able to pull the special moves off on MAME? I can't for the life of me get one to work.
>>
>>3778921
Yeah, I did.

What it worked for me, was doing the special move motions WHILE pressing the button, and release it at the end.
>>
>>3778921

Our local Pizza Hut had it and a Space Harrier machine
>>
>>3778921

yes, it was pretty common in the arcades
>>
>>3778921
I did a couple times and didn't really find it that enjoyable. Do like some of the backgrounds though.

I was introduced to these when street fighter II turbo came out for the SNES.
>>
>>3778921
I remember seeing world warrior for the first time in the arcade... so i am thinking, cool so this is final fight 2, very nice... then the game goes into the title screen and it says "street fighter 2" and i am like WTF, how can this be 2, when was street fighter 1?
>>
>>3778921
I played it when there was a small video game expo/presentation in my city.

The game itself wasn't bad, but still way clunkier than pretty much anything after it.

I don't remember If I ever saw it at the arcade, but I played quite a bit the ZX Spectrum port before Street Fighter 2 was released.
That cover with the street gang and the logo in the leather jacket was too great for the game to pass unnoticed.

I enjoyed playing it, but Sagat and Adon were tough bastards.
>>
It was never ported to SNES so I never got to play it.
>>
>>3778921
To this day I've never seen a street fighter cab in the wild.
Also, I never understood how street fighter ii was ever made, from everyone I know who ever played it said the original was terrible and never once seeing a cab of it, ever, it seems like it was a giant flop.
>>
>>3778921
Played it once on arcade. Early 90's. Got my ass kicked immediately.
>>
>>377892

it's horrible. my step dad had an old arcade version of it and he sold it for $500 I'm pretty sure you got ripped off!
>>
>>3786050
*he got ripped off.
>>
I played it once in arcades

I didn't really enjoy it because I don't like Ryu and Ken and I was wondering where all my favorite characters were.
>>

>not liking based Ryu and Ken

The question should be "has anyone ever played Street Fighter 1," and the answer would be no.
